SPORTS: Port Townsend beats Vashon Island in girls basketball

PORT TOWNSEND — Irina Lyons scored 17 points and Codi Hallinan added 12 to lead the Port Townsend Redskins to their first win of the season Saturday night.

Port Townsend beat Vashon Island 46-44.

The Redskins (0-1 in league, 1-1 overall) held off the 1A Nisqually League Pirates in a tight affair one night after falling to Klahowya in the season opener.

“It was a great game, just a great game,” Port Townsend coach Randy Maag said. “They are really solid and we were just a completely different team than the one that played [Friday] night.”
