Sports: Port Angeles wins, 2-1

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles High School fastpitch team won 2-1 over Holy Names behind a strong outing by pitcher Megan Ramsey in nonleague play on Saturday.

Ramsey gave up only two hits in the complete game victory.

She went 1-for-2 at the plate and drove in Cami Fors, who had been hit by a pitch to start the fourth.

Sarah Bussell and Katie McCaslin each went 1-for-3 for the Roughriders (1-2).

McCaslin had a triple to lead off the third inning.

North Mason 13, Port Townsend 0

PORT TOWNSEND — The Redskins gave up eight runs in the sixth inning of their season opener Friday.

Alaina Fountain went 2-for-3 for Port Townsend (0-1), which was limited to four hits in the game.

Courtney Callahan was the starting pitcher for the Redskins. She yielded three runs in three innings and took the loss.

Boys Soccer Port Angeles 3, Olympic 3

SILVERDALE — Port Angeles’ Matt Wahto scored off a Dylan Gruver pass with two minutes remaining in the game to earn a 3-3 tie with Olympic in Narrows League boys soccer action Friday.

Gruver scored on a 25-yard shot at the 47-minute mark to help the Riders (2-2 in league, 2-3 overall) overcome a 3-1 halftime deficit.

Port Angeles’ Brian Holmquist scored 11 minutes into the game off a Cody Pavlak assist.

Chris Sohlberg had four saves in the goal for the Riders, who outshot Olympic 17-6.

Chimacum 3, North Mason 2

CHIMACUM — The Cowboys edged the Bulldogs in a shootout.

Track PA girls second at relays

BREMERTON — The Roughriders girls track team finished in second place on Saturday at the Bremerton Relays.

The boys track team finished seventh out of 17 teams with 36 points

For the boys, Ross Waite finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9 minutes, 52 seconds.

The distance medley relay team of Jon Dryver, Josh Brown, Dan Lucero and Chad Sommerfeld took first in 10:57.2.

Individual results were not available for the girls.

Girls Golf Sequim 217, Shorewood 239

SEQUIM — Match medalist Isolde Chae-Lawrence shot a 46 for the Wolves in nonleague competition Friday.

Alexia Zbaraschuk had a 49 and Julie Reno added a 52 for Sequim (1-1).
