PORT ANGELES — Raelyn Lucas hit two in and scored three runs as Port Angeles stomped North Kitsap 10-4 and secure second place in the Olympic League softball standings.
The Roughriders, 13-2 in league and 14-2 overall, have one league game left, at Dry Creek Elementary School against Klahowya on Monday.
Port Angeles also plays at Chimacum today in nonleague action as both teams prepare for the playoffs.
The Rider bats finally woke up against the Vikings in Wednesday’s game as Port Angeles had 11 hits.
Carly Gouge ripped a triple and Tori Kuch had a double while Sarah Steinman, Gouge and Kuch all had two hits apiece.
North Kitsap’s Miranda Holt, meanwhile, hit a towering home run to left field.
But it was the Riders with the bulk of the firepower though, as Steinman knocked in a run and scored two herself while Kuch and Jaidyn Larson had two RBI each.
Cara Cristion picked up the win on the mound by giving up just four hits and one earned run in four innings. She struck out onw and walked none.
Dove Lucas earned the save by pitching the final three innings, fanning three and walking one.
The Riders scored all the runs they needed with five in the first inning.

SILVERDALE — Columbia Haupt and Rylleigh Zbaraschuk combined for six hits, five RBI and four runs as the Wolves remained perfect on the year.
Sequim (15-0, 16-0), which earlier won the Olympic League championship, keeps rolling along.
Zbaraschuk, who rapped out two doubles, was a perfect 3 for 3 with four runs and two RBI, while Haupt went 3 for 4 with three RBI and two runs.
The Wolves earned 18 hits as Hannah Grubb joined the hit parade with three hits while Bailey Rhodefer, Alexas Besand and Melissa Lewis had two apiece.
Grubb also scored three runs, and hit a double along with Besand and Rhodefer.
Showing its balance, Sequim also had six stolen bases, from Riley Roberts, Zbaraschuk, Grubb, Shelby Lott, Haupt and Lewis.
Makayla Bentz and McKenzie Bentz combined on the mound to keep the Trojans in check with a two-hitter.
Makayla picked up the win and threw the first two innings, giving up no runs on one hit and four strikeouts, while McKenzie earned the save by giving up one hit and no earned runs in three innings.

PUYALLUP — The Cowboys finished the regular season by shellacking Cascade Christian and earning a 7-5 record in the 1A Nisqually League.
The record means the Cowboys finish in the top four in league. They will host Port Angeles today in a possible tune-up for the playoffs.
Because of poor record keeping in the Sea-Tac League, the Cowboys are waiting to see if they finished in third or fourth place.
Cydney Nelson and Ryley Eldridge combined to throw a six-hitter. They also combined to strike out six and walk only two.
Erin Bainbridge carried the big bat in the game, going 4 for 5 with a triple, a double and two RBI.
Megan Dukek, meanwhile, went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBI and Eldridge was 1 for 2 with a triple.
Nelson and Krista Hathaway knocked in two runs each while Mallori Cossell was 1 for 2 with a double.
Bainbridge, the second baseman, had four outs on defense and started a double play.

BELFAIR — Gen Polizzi and Baili Shaw both hit triples for the Redskins but the Bulldogs had the upper hand in Olympic League action.
Polizzi went a perfect 2 for 2 with the triple while Megan Lee was 2 for 3 and Shaw was 1 for 2 with the triple.
Polizzi and Lee shared pitching duties.
The Redskins conclude the season today at Vashon Island in nonleague action.

Port Angeles 4, Klahowya 3
SILVERDALE — The Roughriders are the walk-off kings in the Olympic League.
Michael Konopaski had the walk-off hit this time as he brought Brian Defrang home with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
“As we have done all season, we won on a walk-off hit by Mike Konopaski, scoring Brian Defrang after Brian had a beautiful push bunt for a base hit,” Port Angeles coach Chad Wagner said.
Klahowya now will take the fifth seed into next week’s district tournament while Port Angeles plays Olympic today at the fairgrounds for the league’s third and fourth seeds.
The game starts at 4 p.m.
“It was a good win and puts us in a good situation facing Olympic [today],” Wagner said.
“We want to win and have the talent and kids to do it. As we get further into the playoffs, we must learn that better teams are going to capitalize on our mistakes.
“We have to play mentally strong baseball, and it will be interesting to see what this team can do.”
Against Klahowya, the Riders scored four runs on nine hits and just one error while the Eagles had three runs on five hits with four errors.
Hayden Gunderson threw the first five innings, giving up three earned runs, five walks and five hits while striking out three.
“Hayden didn’t have hit control like normal, but is turning into a good weapon for us,” Wagner said.
Logan Ciaciuch received the win in relief, throwing two innings with two strikeouts and a walk.
“He battled in a big situation after an error,” Wagner said.
Michael Konopaski had two RBI while Kevin Herzog was 2 for 4 with a run scored and Zach Lovik was 1 for 2 with an RBI.
Cascade Christian 10, Chimacum 0
PUYALLUP — Nothing went right for the Cowboys in the Nisqually League game Wednesday.
Chimacum managed just one hit while committing five errors in the game.
“We just didn’t show up to play,” coach Jim Dunn said.

Mount Rainier Lutheran 3
TACOMA — The Rangers picked up a crucial league victory over the Hawks in a battle of the Sea-Tac League’s top two teams.
Both squads entered the game with perfect league records, so the win gives Quilcene (8-0, 9-4) a leg up in the chase for the 1B state tournament.
The Rangers can nail down their place at state by winning at least one of today’s home doubleheader rematch against the Hawks (9-1, 10-3).
In an effort to preserve him for today’s games, Quilcene ace Jacob Pleines only pitched the first three innings on Wednesday, striking out five and giving up just one hit while holding Mount Rainier Lutheran scoreless.
Pleines’ biggest contribution might have come at the plate, where he belted a double and a bases-clearing triple.
Lucas Murphy and Nate Weller also had big hits for the Rangers, and Jason Smith scored Quilcene’s first run after reaching base on a bunt single.
Freshman Eli Harrison earned the win with four innings of work. He fanned one and scattered three hits.

PORT TOWNSEND — The wrong goals were listed in Thursday’s story about the Olympic 5-3 win over the Redskins on Page B3.
Nick Silberman had two goals in the game while teammate Daniel Charlton had the third goal for Port Townsend.
Silberman, Charlton and Max Meier each had an assist for the Redskins in the game.
