Sports: Port Angeles High wrestlers dominate match

TACOMA — The Port Angeles High School wrestling team dominated its Narrows League crossover match to win just their second dual meet of the season Thursday night, beating Wilson 54-30.

Port Angeles took five forfeits and earned four pins to improve to 2-11 on the year.

Taking pins were Chad Meldrum at 119 pounds, who beat Akkem Moore in 5 minutes, 1 second; Josh Shea at 130 pounds, who pinned Brendan Wilson in 44 seconds; Sam Olsen at 135 pounds, who felled Fred Williams in 51 seconds; and Tommy Hafer at 275 pounds, who pinned Matt Minch in 1:42.

Claiming forfeits were Roman Watson at 112, Abe Blaylock at 125, Brandon Roblan at 145, Bruce Symonds at 160 and Stevie Valadez at 215.

Valadez improved to 29-4 on the year.

The Riders will participate in the West Central District JV qualifier Saturday at Central Kitsap.

On Feb. 3-4, Port Angeles will compete in the sub-regionals at Bremerton High School. Action starts at 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
