PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles girls tennis team outlasted a balanced Bremerton squad in squeezing out a 4-3 victory in Olympic League action Monday.
Most of the matches were heavily contested, and the match tied until the very end.
The Roughriders won two of the three singles matches and three of four doubles competition.
Player of the match was ace singles player Danika Goodwin, who won 6-4, 6-2.
“Danika played a great match from start to finish,” coach Brian Gundersen said. “I was impressed with her all-around game.”
Gundersen also singled out No. 3 doubles players Alexis Corn and Sam Manwell, who won 6-1, 6-1.
“Sam and Alexis play very well together, and they are clicking on all cylinders right now,” Gundersen said.
Also winning were No. 2 doubles Grace Van Rossen and Mallory Hoch (6-1, 4-6, 6-4) and No. 4 doubles Chantel La and Chelsea Drake (6-3, 6-3).
The Riders continue their season on Wednesday at home against Olympic.

Baseball: Chimacum 11, Orting 1
CHIMACUM — Chance Eldridge went the distance, throwing a three-hitter in the Nisqually League game, to win his second game of the year Monday.
The Cowboys, 3-0 in league and 5-2 overall, blew out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning and increased it to 10-1 in the bottom of the fifth.
Chimacum also split a nonleague doubleheader at Castle Rock on Friday.
Chance Eldridge had three strikeouts in Monday’s game, improving to 2-0 on the year with a save.
Elijah Roulst carried the big stick, going 3-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs while Landon Cray went 2-for-2 with a double.
Austin McConnell and Ivan Evasick both went 1-for-2 in the game.
On Friday, the Cowboys shaded Woodland 5-3 in the first game of a doubleheader at Castle Rock, and then lost 7-2 to the host team in the nightcap.
“The second game was a good game for us,” Chimacum coach Loren Bishop said.
“I don’t do anything without a reason. I pitched some of our younger kids in that game to give them experience.”
Quinn Eldridge and McConnell, both freshmen, pitched the second game.
In the first game, Chance Eldridge started on the mound and went four innings, picking up his first win of the season, Cray threw the next two innings and Roulst earned the save by pitching the seventh inning.
Chance Eldridge went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs while Cray was 3-for-4 in the game.
Both Quinn Eldridge and John Modispacher smacked a double each.
In the second game, both Cray and Devin Manix went 2-for-3 as Manix had a double and RBI.
Chance Eldridge was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI.
Next, the Cowboys host Charles Wright in a league game Wednesday.
Softball: Chimacum 3, Orting 2
CHIMACUM — The Cowboys scored one run in the bottom of the sixth inning to nip Orting in Nisqually League action Monday.
Chimacum led 2-0 in the third, only to have Orting tie it 2-all in the top of the sixth before the Cowboys scored the deciding run in the bottom half of the sixth.
Robyn Garing went the distance on the mound, scattering four hits to improve to 3-0 in league and 3-1 overall.
She had seven strikeouts and six walks in the seven-inning game.
Natasha Kiesel had two RBIs for the Cowboys while Samantha Benner had an RBI.
Chimacum now plays Cedar Park Christian at Inglemoor High School on Wednesday and hosts Kingston on Friday at 4 p.m.
Both games are nonleague.
