PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles High School’s girls tennis team remained perfect on the year after dominating Kingston in an Olympic League match Monday.
The Roughriders ripped the Buccaneers 6-1 on a windy and cold spring day.
Port Angeles swept the four doubles matches and won the No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches.
Freda Sachenheimer was named the player of the match for blanking her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
“Freda is so consistent that she’s tough to beat,” Port Angeles coach Brian Gundersen said.
Danika Goodwin made it 2-1 in singles for the Riders by winning 6-1, 6-2.
Port Angeles did not lose a set in the six matches it won.
Megan Hixson and Coco Piper won a close 6-3, 7-5 match at No. 1 doubles while Grace Van Rossen and Mallory Hoch won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2.
Sam Manwell and Alexis Corn continued the winning doubles way 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 while Chanel La and Aishia Dueno won 6-4, 6-2.
The Riders will try to continue their winning ways today against North Kitsap.

Softball: Sequim 10, Kingston 2
SEQUIM — Sophomore Maddy Zbaraschuk went 4-for-4 with a triple to lead the Wolves over the Buccaneers in an Olympic League game Monday.
Sequim broke open a close 4-2 game with four runs in the fifth inning and added two more in the sixth to conclude scoring.
The Wolves had 13 hits and no errors in the seven-inning game.
“We’re hitting the ball well right now,” Sequim coach Mel Hendrickson said.
“We have scored 20-some runs in the last two games.”
Chelsea Winfield (3-0) opened on the mound, picking up the win and going three innings, allowing just three hits on no runs and no walks while fanning two.
Demiree Briones pitched the final four innings, striking out two while giving up two runs on four hits and walking two.
Kinzie Winfield went 2-for-4 while Beverly Buck was 2-for-3 and Kathryn Roeber went 1-for-1 with a triple.
The Wolves next play at Port Townsend on Wednesday.

Boys Soccer: Port Angeles 2, North Mason 0
BELFAIR — The Roughriders scored both goals in the final 9 minutes of the game to win their opening Olympic League game Monday.
Anthony Brandon was named the offensive player of the game for a goal and an assist.
His goal came at the 71st minute.
Tyler Owens was named the transition player of the game as he scored in the 74th minute on a pass by Brandon.
The Riders outshot the Bulldogs 16-4.
Derek Walrath was named the defensive player of the game by earning his second shutout in a row.
The Riders, 1-0 in league, 2-6-1 overall and 1-2-1 in playoff standings, next host Klahowya at home Friday.
North Kitsap 3, Sequim 0
SEQUIM — The Class 2A Wolves lost to the “top 3A team in the Olympic League,” Sequim coach Dave Brasher said.
The Vikings led 1-0 at halftime and outshot the Wolves 11-7.
“It was a real windy day, and a real ugly game,” Brasher said.
Jose Najera was named the player of the match for playing well defensively.
The Wolves are 0-1 in league, 5-2 overall and 3-2 in playoff standings.
Sequim next plays at North Mason on Wednesday.
Chimacum 4, Port Angeles JV 1
CHIMACUM — Perry Pearsall scored two goals to spark the Cowboys to the nonleague game Monday.
Nick Hill and Keegan Young scored one goal each.
Hill, Pearsall and Young had an assist each.
Sam Beasley scored the goal for the Roughriders.
The Cowboys, 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the Nisqually League, next play today at Vashon Island.

Baseball: Kingston 18, Sequim 4
SEQUIM — The Buccaneers stormed out to a 7-3 lead in the second inning and coasted to the Olympic League win Monday.
Kingston had 15 hits and one error while the Wolves had nine hits and four errors.
Drew Rickerson went 2-for-3 in the game with a triple and an RBI while Matt Bereiter was 3-for-3 for the Wolves
Isaac Yamamoto went 1-for-2 with a double and RBI.
The Wolves next play at Port Townsend on Wednesday.
