PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles girls basketball team rolled past a tough Bainbridge team Tuesday night in nonleague action.
Leading 29-20 at halftime, the Riders poured it on after the break to cruise to a 67-38 final score.
Port Angeles’ Jessica Madison led all scorers with 27 points and added nine assists and eight steals to help her teammates.
Skylar Jones finished the night with 17 points while Kiah Jones and Taylyn Jeffers each had eight for the Roughriders (5-0, 6-2).
In the third quarter, the Riders held Bainbridge to just six points, clamping down on defense.
“We made some adjustments and really started picking it up after the half,” Riders coach Mike Knowles said.
“I’m very pleased with our entire team effort and focus,” he added.
Next up, Port Angeles travels to Ferndale on Jan. 2 in their last nonleague game.

QUILCENE — The Cowboys’ relentless defense and timely shooting kept the Rangers off balance Tuesday night in this nonleague matchup.
Samantha Benner led all scorers with 13 points for Chimacum (0-1, 4-5).
Arline Petrick added to the scoring with eight points for the Cowboys.
“It’s so nice to have all our players available to play for a change,” Cowboys coach Mike Clarke said after the game.

MARYSVILLE — The Red Devils brought their best and easily defeated the Hawks on Tuesday night at the Tulalip Tournament.
Erica Fonzi led Neah Bay with 12 points while Cherish Moss added 11 and Alisha Kallappa had 10.
Ardis Pullen and Rebecca Thompson each sank eight for the Lady Reds.
In Monday’s game against Lummi, Neah Bay won 49-39.
Moss had 16 points to lead the way while Thompson added 12.

NORTH BEACH — Missing two veteran point guards, the Spartans couldn’t stay with Mossy Rock at the North Beach Christmas Invitational on Tuesday.
Forks (3-4 overall) lost guard Kylea Jo Allen to injury earlier in the year and also was missing another senior point guard.
“We had a freshman at point guard,” Forks coach Dave Zellar said.
“We struggled a little bit but the kids hung in there.”
Mariah Dillard led the Spartans with 15 points.
Forks next will play the loser between host North Beach and Evergreen Lutheran today at the tourney starting at 2:30 p.m.

NORTH BEACH — The bad news: The Spartans shot just 25 percent from the field (16-of-62) and 29 percent from the foul line (11-of-38), and had 20 turnovers in the game.
The good news: The Spartans won.
“I’ll take the win,” Forks coach Scott Justus said.
Justus said he didn’t know why the Spartans had such a cold-shooting day Tuesday in the North Beach Christmas Invitational.
Forks has had some good practices and some bad practices during winter break, Justus said.
Frank Noles sparked Forks with 16 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double while Fernando Hernandez sank 10 points and brought down seven boards.
Braden Decker, the only freshman on the varsity team, had six steals in the game.
The Spartans (5-2 overall) next will play the winner between host North Beach and Mossy Rock today at the tourney.

QUILCENE — The Cowboys took a 30-18 lead at halftime and cruised to the nonleague win between the Jefferson County rivals.
Chimacum (3-6 overall, 1-1 in Nisqually League) had three players score in double figures.
Mason Moug led the way with 18 points while Dylan Brown sank 13 and Quinn Eldridge added 11.
“It was a good game overall,” Chimacum coach Jim Eldridge said.
The Rangers also had three score in double figures as Pat Knox led everybody with 19 points while Brandon Bancroft had 11 and Jared Newman put in 10.
Chimacum next plays at Life Christian on Tuesday in league action.

MARYSVILLE — Red Devil adrenaline was pumping hot and heavy Tuesday night as Neah Bay pulled out a nail-biter over Lummi at the Tulalip Tournament.
Down by 12 points entering the fourth quarter, Cody Bartlett and Drexler Doherty turned it on, shooting lights-out in the final frame to bring the Red Devils back for the win.
Robert Moss led all scorers with 22 points for Neah Bay while Doherty had 20. Bartlett finished the night with 16.
Monday’s matchup against Tulalip was fruitful as well with Neah Bay running away in the second half to win 68-52.
Moss and Bartlett each scored 15 points while Doherty chipped in 12.
Andy Pasqua added 11 points in a very balanced Red Devil scoring attack.
Red Devil coach Michael Lawrence said this tournament would be a very good measuring device to know where his team stands.
Looks like they are the team to beat in the North Olympic League.
