BELLEVUE — The Roughriders fell hard on the road to the 4A Knights in their first game of the season on Saturday.
The Riders had their first two contests (at Gig Harbor and home against Kingston) postponed on account of rain.
Danny Romero had a first-inning solo home run for Port Angeles, but that would be it for the Riders.
A.J. Konopaski took the loss on the mound.
Port Angeles (0-1) hosts Bremerton on Tuesday.

Forks 3, Tenino 2
FORKS — Forks picked up its fourth win in as many tries on a late goal from Cristian Molina in the 72nd minute against Tenino on Saturday.
“It wasn’t our best performance, and we didn’t play as well as we can, but it worked out,” Forks coach Brian Bowers said.
Forks tied the score at 1-1 in the 34th minute on a Wilson Avila-Luna goal off of an Alexis Ayala assist.
The Spartans then took the lead two minutes later when Avila-Luna found the back of the net once again.
Tenino tied it up just before halftime on a penalty kick.
Forks struggled to find the net in the second half against Tenino’s 5-3-2 defensive formation.
“We had a little trouble fighting through that system,” Bowers said.
Molina’s game winner in the 72nd minute was a high shot to the upper left corner taken from near the top of the 18-yard box.
The Spartans (4-0-0) travel to southwest Washington next weekend for a pair of games against Toledo-Winlock United and White Salmon.

SEQUIM — Sequim’s Evan Watkins scored four goals to lead the Wolves past the Pirates. Details were not reported.
Sequim (2-1-0, 3-1-0) travels to Klahowya on Thursday.

King’s 2, Port Angeles 1
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles fell to the defending Class 1A state champions on Saturday at Shane Park.
“Both teams were pretty depleted roster-wise, Port Angeles coach Chris Saari said. “We played five freshman in extended minutes and King’s played a few as well.”
Maldeep Kang scored the first goal of the match for Port Angeles off of an assist from Forrest Epstein in the 13th minute before King’s added its two goals before halftime.
In the second half Port Angeles had some chances at the goal but “couldn’t convert anything close,” according to Saari.
Freshman goalkeeper Forrest Emmett played his first full contest and had nine saves for the Riders.
Saari praised Kang on offense, Josh McFarland on defensive and Tyler Owens in transition.
Port Angeles (0-4-0) plays at Klahowya on Monday.

PORT TOWNSEND — The Redskins improved to 2-1-0 with a victory over the Falcons on Saturday.
Luis Quintana scored two goals and Alex Lockwood had a goal and three assists for the Redskins.
Port Townsend hosts Kingston on Tuesday.
