POULSBO — League-leading North Kitsap easily handled Port Angeles in boys soccer but the Roughriders still earned a spot in the postseason when Sequim and North Mason both lost games Tuesday night.
The Riders, 3-3-1 in the Olympic League for 10 points after losing 7-0 to powerhouse North Kitsap, will be playing Olympic at home tonight in Senior Night at Civic Field for third place in league.
The Trojans earned the shot at third after blanking Sequim 2-0 on Tuesday.
Today’s winner between Port Angeles and Olympic will be the Olympic League’s third seed in the 2A playoffs while the loser will be the fourth seed.
The Riders are tied with 10 points in league with both Olympic and Klahowya but Port Angeles has the tie-breaker against the Eagles because the Riders beat them last week.
On Tuesday, the Vikings got off to a quick start against the Riders on their Senior Night.
North Kitsap in control
Garrett Wilder had two quick goals and another insurance goal before halftime to give the Vikings control of the match.
“We were unable to sustain much of an attack throughout the match as the Vikings seemed determined to seal the league championship,” Port Angeles coach Chris Saari said.
Port Angeles now is 7-4-4 overall.
Saari named goalkeeper Jack Doryland defensive player of the match against the Vikings and Hayden McCartney the transition player of the match.
North Kitsap won the JV match 5-0.
Olympic 2,
Sequim 0
SILVERDALE — The Wolves, struggling all season on offense, were bumped out of playoff contention with the Olympic League loss.
The Trojans scored in the 29th minute on a penalty kick and in the 38th minute on a header for a 2-0 halftime lead.
They then held on for the win.
“We battled back but we just couldn’t break the ice,” Sequim coach Dave Brasher said.
“The kids played hard like they always do.”
The Wolves had a couple of shots that were cleared at the line and couldn’t quite punch a shot in.
Sequim has had a hard-luck season, having very close shots glancing off the bar or something else and just not finding their mark.
The Wolves will conclude their season tonight at Kingston.
Port Townsend 2,
Klahowya 2
PORT TOWNSEND — Finishing the season just the way it started, rainy and playing from behind, the 1A Port Townsend Redskins fought back to tie 2A Klahowya in their final Olympic League match of the season.
Klahowya took the lead with two goals in the first 20 minutes.
However, Memorial Field’s Senior Night was good for Port Townsend seniors as Luke Coppenrath started the Redskins scoring as he headed in a goal at 52 minutes from a John Reid assist.
Port Townsend kept the momentum going as Michael Shively assisted Brady Arthur on a 58th minute goal to tie the match up 2-2.
In overtime, Redskin senior Harrison Hodgson lifted the near-wining goal just over Klahowya’s goal as part of 14 Port Townsend shots on goal to Klahowya’s nine.
The Redskin defense held strong as goalkeeper Brian LeMaster was aided by excellent work from Xavie Frank, Mittiku Little and John Reid.

Bremerton, forfeit
BREMERTON — The Wolves remained perfect in the Olympic League and overwhelmed the three-person Bremerton team at Gold Mountain’s Cascade Course on Tuesday.
Sequim, 7-0 in league and 9-1 overall, conclude the regular season today at The Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course against Klahowya.
Next for the Wolves is the Olympic League tournament this coming Tuesday at Gold Mountain.
Sequim had its best score of the year with the 255.
Hailey Estes earned medalist honors Tuesday with a score of 48 on the par-36 back nine in the nine-hole competition.
Caitlin Stofferahn was right behind with 49, followed by Elisa Sallee 51, Vanessa Martinez 52, Brianna Kettel 55 and Maddy Fisher 58.
Martinez beat her season-best score by four strokes.

Port Angeles 311
KINGSTON — The Buccaneers held off the Roughriders at White Horse Golf Club on Tuesday in Olympic League action.
Dana Fox of Port Angeles was match medalist with a low score of 46, beating out Kingston’s Amy Zehrung by one stroke.
Also for the Riders, Sydney Rauch had a 58, Chloe Brown had a 64, Kelly Winn had a 66 and Kate Haworth had a 68.
On Friday, the Riders defeated Bremerton with a team score of 285 to 1194.
Fox was match medalist with a 46, followed by Rauch shot a 53, Haworth had a personal best of 57, Brown shot a 63 and Brittany McBride shot a 66.
Next up for the Riders is the Olympic League tournament this coming Tuesday at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton.
