PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles boys soccer team blanked an undermanned Chimacum squad 8-0 on Saturday at a soggy Civic Field.
The weather was a mix of sun, rain and a torrential hailstorm during the action.
The Cowboys suited up only eight players for the game.
The Roughriders remain undefeated (2-0-2) with half of their preseason games concluded.
Port Angeles plays the next three games on the road, at Port Townsend, Olympic and Sequim.
On Saturday, goalkeeper Jack Doryland recorded his first shutout of the season.
Kyle Bingham scored a hat trick for the Riders while Anthony Brandon, Abinet Hayden, Forest Suess, Timmy Schneider and Nick Ioffrida all had one goal each.
Brandon had two assists while Bingham, Suess and Kevan Keegan also had an assist each.
Bingham was named offensive player of the match while Sam Beasley took defensive player of the match honors and Brandon was named transition player of the match.
The Sequim C team beat the Riders 2-1 in the JV match Saturday.
The Riders next play Port Townsend at Memorial Field on Tuesday.

COUPEVILLE — With less than 48 hours advance notice of a “ghost” match scheduled to be played, the Redskins traveled with only eight varsity players to Coupeville for a challenging nonleague match versus the perennially strong Wolves, who have appeared in the state finals three of the last four years.
“Had this game been on our radar prior to Thursday, we surely could have assembled a full squad,” coach Steve Shively said.
“But the players we scrambled to put on the field all gave outstanding efforts, many of them playing new positions for the very first time on varsity.”
The Redskins’ lineup was supplement by courageous play from sophomores Brady Arthur and Daniel Dawson, and freshman Collin Coker, up from the JV team, Shively said.
Throughout the majority of the match the Redskins played Coupeville even.
Finally in the 63rd minute, the Redskins’ makeshift defense offered a crack to the relentless assault of the Wolves, enabling Jeremy Copenhaver to flick a goal past outstretched Port Townsend keeper Brian LeMaster.
That opened the floodgates for the remaining 17 minutes as Coupeville manufactured three additional goals.
The Port Townsend JV team beat the Wolves 4-3 in earlier action.
Thanks to advance scheduling, the Redskins are prepared to start a week-long, three-game home stand, beginning Tuesday against Port Angeles in the annual Andy Palmer Memorial Classic.
Kickoff for JV is 5 p.m. while the varsity game starts at 6:45 p.m.
The Redskins host North Mason on Friday, and Saturday they welcome Orting with a nonleague game at 1:45 p.m.

SILVERDALE — The improved Eagles shaded the Wolves in nonleague action Saturday despite being outshot 17-7.
Sequim had several shots glance off the crossbar or the post.
Goalkeeper Byron Boots had two saves for the Wolves while forward Mitch McHugh played well up front, coach Dave Brasher said.
Lijah Sanford also played well in the midfield, according to his coach.
The Wolves next will host Kingston in nonleague action Tuesday.

COUPEVILLE — After four rainouts, the Redskins (0-1) finally got their nonleague game in with Coupeville (after two rainouts alone against this team).
Port Townsend received strong pitching from Kyle Kelly, Cody Russell and Jacob King.
They combined for only one earned run but mental defensive mistakes opened the door for the Wolves.
Daniel Charlton went 2 for 3 while James Delagarza was was 1 for 1 with an RBI for the Redskins.
The rest of the bats were silent in their first game of the year, Port Townsend coach Pat Kelly said.
The Redskins start league play this week.
They host Kingston today, play Port Angeles at home Wednesday and compete at North Kitsap on Friday.
