PORT ANGELES — Wesley Giddings pitched a two-hitter through five innings to spark Port Angeles to a 7-2 Olympic League baseball victory over Port Townsend on Monday.
The Roughriders (6-4 in league, 7-5 overall) scored three runs in the first inning and led 7-0 after five innings to cruise to the victory.
Port Angeles now is only a game behind second-place Sequim (7-3), which lost 11-3 to North Kitsap in a game between the league leaders Monday.
Giddings (2-1) allowed no runs while striking out four and walking just one.
Buck Reandeau threw the final two innings, giving up two earned runs on just one hit while fanning three and walking one.
The Riders roughed up Port Townsend ace Kyle Kelly, who pitched the entire six innings, giving up seven earned runs on eight hits.
Kelly struck out five while walking two and hitting a batter.
Chase Jangula knocked in two runners for the Riders while scoring a run, stealing a base and hitting a sacrifice fly.
Easton Napiontek ripped a triple and scored a run, hit one in and was hit by a pitch.
Cole Uvila went 2 for 3, scored two runs and stole two bases while Connor Gouge had two RBIs for Port Angeles.
Dillon Ralls had a two-RBI single for the Redskins in the top of the sixth inning after Kelly walked and Devon Courtney singled.
Port Angeles next plays at Olympic (5-3 in leauge) today while Port Townsend (1-8 league and overall) hosts North Mason (2-8 after beating Kingston 6-3 on Monday).

SEQUIM — The Vikings jumped back into sole possession of first place in the Olympic League with the easy win Monday.
North Kitsap, which has won seven of its past eight games, received strong offensive support from Nate Reece and Matt Fisher, who combined for six hits and five RBIs.
The Vikings are now 8-2 in league and 9-4 overall while the Wolves fell to 7-3, 8-6.
Justin Straight had a strong outing on the mound for the Vikings, striking out 11 in six innings.
The Vikings were ahead 7-0 before the Wolves scored two runs in the bottom of the third.
North Kitsap knocked Sequim starter Tyler Campbell out of the game in the third.
Campbell did have a good day at bat, going 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs while Karsten Wake went 2 for 3 with a run, stolen base and walk.
Sequim next plays at Klahowya in Silverdale today.

SEQUIM — The Wolves won’t have two perfect seasons in a row.
The defending Class 2A state champions had their 35-game winning streak broken by of all teams, the Vikings — who have won just their second game of the year (2-4 Olympic League and overall).
The Wolves (6-1 league and overall), meanwhile, fall a half-game behind archrival Port Angeles (7-1 league and overall), which had a rainout against Port Townsend on Monday.
North Kitsap came out swinging, leading 5-1 after three innings and 10-1 going into the bottom of the fifth.
Emma Keller went the distance on the mound for the Vikings, striking out six in seven innings.
Rylleigh Zbaraschuk and Alexas Besand had two hits each for the Wolves.
Sequim will try to get back on track today at Klahowya in Silverdale.

Sequim wins 3-way
SEQUIM — The Wolves improved to 4-0 on the year with the Olympic League double-dual win against Olympic and Port Townsend at The Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course on Monday.
The victory brings up a showdown between undefeated Sequim and unbeaten archrival Port Angeles today at Dungeness.
The makeup match between the two rivals has been postponed a couple of times.
It was originally scheduled for Peninsula Golf Club but now will be held in Sequim starting at 2:30 p.m.
This match should determine the league championship.
On Monday, Sequim’s Ryan O’Mera continued his standout season, scoring 78, the only golfer to score in the 70s, to lead the Wolves to an 18-hole score of 424.
The Trojans were way back with 494 while the Redskins were incomplete with only three golfers.
Teams need five golfers for a team score.
A strong wind blew during the entire match but O’Mera still shot 39 and 39.
Olympic’s Trent Ferris was second with 82 while Sequim’s Casey Torres captured thid with an 84.
Also for Sequim, Brendon Hudson and Frank Catelli shot 87 each and Anthony Pinza was right behind with 88.
Port Townsend’s Gabriel Hensley shot a team-beat 89.
Girls Golf
Sequim wins 3-way
SEQUIM — The Wolves easily beat Olympic and Port Townsend, which fielded incomplete teams, in Olympic League action at The Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course on Monday.
Sequim scored 272 in the nine-hole event with Hailey Estes taking medalist honors with a score of 45.
The Wolves’ six golfers claimed the top four scores and took five of the best six scores.
Elisa Salle captured second with 51, followed by teammates Caitlin Stofferahn with 56, Vanessa Martinez with 58, Brianna Kettel with 62 and Maddy Fisher with 64.
Olympic’s hailey Badger tied for fifth place with 62.
Port Townsend’s lone golfer, Riley Fukano, scored 71.
Girls Tennis
Port Angeles 6, North Mason 1
PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders dropped just one match in the Olympic League competition Monday.
Port Angeles coach Brian Gundersen named doubles players Shayla Bohman and Danielle Rutherford the players of the match.
The partners defeated Lexi Zevnick and Katrina Martin 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
“Shayla and Danielle have been playing well for a while,” Gundersen said.
The Riders took two of the three singles matches with Caylie Cook beating Bree Abplanalp 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 and Callie Peet defeating Sarah Newton 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3.
In doubles action, Chelsea Drake and Jordi Fickas beat Emma Urdahl and Kristi Rieker 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2, Kelsey Coffman and Bradi McFarlen defeated Shannon Cox and Kara Tygart 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3, and Krissy Marvelle and Erin McKenna beat Sateeva Harris and Danielle Bosch 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.
