BREMERTON — The Port Angeles High School boys swimming team won 11 of 12 events on Thursday, defeating Bremerton 86-56 in Narrows League competition.
Jackson Armstrong, Adam Cal-Cole, Brad Hoine, Stephen Tutton and Justin Williamson each won two individual events for the Roughriders.
Armstrong had a state-qualifying time in the 100-yard butterfly, which he completed in 58.80 seconds. He also took first in the 200 individual medley (2:20.26).
Cal-Cole won the 50 free (23:11) and the 100 free (50:96), Hoine won the 200 free (2:03.46) and the 100 back (1:02.94), and Tutton took first in the 500 free (5:46.15) and the 100 breast (1:17.57).
Williamson was first in the diving competition and the 100 back (1:14.51).
Port Angeles also won the 200 medley relay (1:59.42) and the 400 free relay (4:06.30).
Armstrong, Cal-Cole, Tutton and Williamson made up the 200 medley team. Armstrong, Hoine, Tutton and Williamson manned the 400 free team.
Anacortes 110, Sequim 74
ANACORTES — The Wolves lost a nonleague swim meet on Thursday.
Sequim won three events.
Jake Brantley took the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.79 seconds. Hans Boenish was the winner in the 100 back (1:15.69), and Phillip Riolo won the 100 breast (1:18.74).
Wrestling Vashon 50, Port Townsend 21
PORT TOWNSEND — The Redskins had a good showing at the lower weights but were unable to beat a strong Vashon team in a Nisqually League meet Thursday.
Port Townsend’s Adam Hickman won a 15-3 decision at 112 pounds.
Will Bringgold recorded a fall in 3 minutes, 44 seconds in the 135-pound match; and Keith Johnson pinned his opponent in 1:29 at 140 pounds.
Port Townsend’s Andrew Rubio won by forfeit at 125 pounds.
Stadium 63, Port Angeles 15
TACOMA — The Roughriders gave up six forfeits as they lost in nonleague competition Thursday.
Greger Tuttle won a 5-2 decision at 125 pounds for the Riders.
“That was the best match of the night,” said Port Angeles coach Erik Gonzalez.
Angela Toll won by forfeit at 103 for the Roughriders as did Cory Looney at 275 pounds.
The Roughriders had only 10 wrestlers available for the meet due to a Washington Interscholastic Activities Association rule that mandates the number of practices wrestlers must have in order to compete.

PORT ANGELES — Brianna Allen, Sarah Bussell and Brooke Helpenstell each scored 13 points and the Port Angeles girls basketball team opened the season with a 66-21 nonleague win over North Mason.
Trisha Buckingham added eight points and nine rebounds for the Roughriders (1-0). Nicole Morgan had 12 steals and eight points.
“We’re just excited about being able to build through the season and become the team that we want to be,” first-year Port Angeles coach Tom Seros said.
