PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles baseball team won by the 10-run mercy rule for the second game in a row.
The Roughriders, who beat Port Townsend 15-5 in five innings Monday, turned around and blanked Bremerton 10-0 in five innings Tuesday to improve to 3-2 in the Olympic League and 3-3 overall.
Port Angeles scored five runs in the second and five in the third on just four hits as three Bremerton pitchers gave up seven walks and hit two batters.
Konopaski (1-0) earned his first win of the year, pitching the first four innings, striking out five while allowing three hits and only one walk.
Brian Senf gave up no runs in the fifth inning for the Riders.
Konopaski helped himself at the plate by ripping a two-RBI triple as he went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and one run.
Cody Sullivan, who had the pitching win Monday, went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk. Sullivan is batting .650 for the year.
Easton Napiontek also had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
The Riders next play at North Kitsap this coming Monday in an Olympic League game.

POULSBO — A late-inning rally couldn’t save the Wolves (3-2 in league, 4-4 overall) against a loaded 3A Knights team in Tuesday’s Olympic League tilt.
North Kitsap touched Sequim starter Drew Rickerson for eight runs (six earned) in the first two innings, and the Wolves never recovered.
“They are a very good team,” Sequim coach Dave Ditlefsen said. “You have to play very well to beat them, and we didn’t play very well.”
North Kitsap ace Alex Smith held the Wolves scoreless in four innings of work.
Sequim scored four runs in the fifth and five in the seventh against North Kitsap relievers, but by that time it was too little, too late.
Jeremie Oliver finished 3-for-3 at the plate for Sequim, driving in two runners and scoring once.
The Wolves host 3A Olympic on Thursday.

POULSBO — The Wolves continued their collision course with North Mason, stomping the 3A Vikings in just three innings Tuesday.
North Kitsap managed to get just one ball in play, a weak ground-out to first base, against Sequim starter Demiree Briones (6-1).
The sophomore right-hander pitched three innings of perfect ball, striking out eight of the nine batters to help Sequim remain perfect in Olympic League play.
Lea Hopson continued her torrid start to the season for the Wolves (6-0, 7-1), going 3-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBIs. Briones and Chelsea Winfield each added two hits.
Sequim will host Olympic on Thursday before taking on fellow Olympic League power North Mason at home next Monday.

Kingston 1, Sequim 0 (OT)
SEQUIM — The Buccaneers escaped Dungeness Valley with an overtime victory in Tuesday night’s battle of Olympic League unbeatens.
Kingston defender Chad Trask burst through the middle of the field in the 84th minute and banged one past Sequim goaltender Byron Boots to break a scoreless tie.
It was just the second goal surrendered by the Wolves’ back line this season.
“The ball was kind of bouncing in the middle and he came running up the middle, chested it down and just kept going,” Sequim coach Dave Brasher said.
“We weren’t ready for him. Byron got a piece of it, but [Trask] put it in.”
Sequim was unable to find the back of the net despite out-shooting Kingston 14-6 on the night.
“We had good chances . . . it will come,” Brasher said. “Our passing game was really nice tonight.
“We had a lot of good things going. I thought we played really well, but it was one of those games.”
Sequim (2-1 in league, 4-1 overall) heads to Port Townsend on Thursday before finishing off the week with a home match against Forks on Friday.
“We’re trying to work so that we’re peaking at the right time,” Brasher said.
“We’ll refocus now and work on our offensive stuff. It’s tough to win with a goose egg.”

PORT TOWNSEND — The shorthanded Redskins let a halftime lead slip away and the Bulldogs rallied for two late goals in an Olympic League clash on Tuesday night.
Sebastian Lyons and Ryan Crase goals put the Redskins (1-2 league, 3-2 overall) up 2-1 at intermission but were held scoreless in the second half.
Colin Rolston tied it in the 66th minute for the Bulldogs, and a North Mason player slipped through the Redskins defense to put in a rebound shot at the 77th minute for the game winner.
Junior varsity call-ups Dylan Holbrook and Xavier Frank played well on the defensive side in extended varsity action for the Redskins.
Port Townsend will next host Sequim on Thursday at 6:45 p.m.

MONTESANO — The Spartans outshot Montesano but could find the back of the net only once in the Southwest Washington League game Tuesday.
Giovany Mateo scored in the 77th minute to keep Forks from being shut out after Montesano led 2-0 at halftime.
The Spartans had a 9-7 advantage in shots on goal.
“We moved the ball pretty well, we were just having trouble finding the net,” Forks coach Brian Bowers said.
Goalkeeper Matthew Ortiz had four saves for the Spartans.
Forks next plays at Sequim on Friday in a nonleague game.
