SILVERDALE — Tyler Burke won two events to spark the Port Angeles boys swimming team to an Olympic League win against Klahowya on Thursday.
The Roughriders remained undefeated on the year at 5-0 in both league and overall with the 113-68 victory.
Port Angeles captured first place and outscored the Eagles in seven of the 12 events.
Burke won the 50-yard freestyle (24.54 seconds) and the 100 backstroke (59.12).
Three swimmers qualified for the West Central District championships for the Riders.
Charlie Parks qualified in the 100 butterfly (second in 1:09.60). He is now qualified in all eight individual swimming events at the district meet.
Others with district qualifying times are Matt Watkins in the 200 free (third in 2:10.94) and Kris Wannquist in the 200 individual medley (third in 2:39.30).
Port Angeles swept three events, including the individual medley, diving and 100 back.
The top three in diving were Austin Fahrenholtz, who took first with 189.75 points, and runner-up Sam Beasley and Philip Scott in third place.
Trailing Burke in the 100 back were Tarren Grimsley and Michael Wood.
Swimming behind Parks in the 200 IM were Avery Koehler and Wannquist.
C.J. Urnes won the 500 free for the Riders in 5:49.14.
Also winning for Port Angeles were the 200 medley relay with Grimsley, Cody Owens, Connor Reid and Joel Elder and the 400 free relay with Watkins, Parks, Urnes and Burke.
The Riders next host North Kitsap in their final home meet of the year and their senior farewell this coming Thursday starting at 3:30 p.m. at the William Shore Memorial Pool.
Sequim 92, Olympic 91
SEQUIM — Noe Calderon led the Wolves by winning two events Thursday at SARC in the Olympic League competition.
Calderon won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.84 and the 200 individual medley in 2:24.49.
“Noe Calderon swam a very good race in the 100 breaststroke,” Sequim coach Linda Moats said. “It was a close finish.”
Kris Petersen earned a West Central District qualifying time and claimed first place in the 100 butterfly in 1:11.49.
Other winners for Sequim were Drew Rickerson in the 50 free (25.40), Connor Christianson in diving (157.95 points), Thomas Moores in the 500 free (6:17.05) and the 200 free relay team with Calderon, Andrew Gunstone, Doug Dunbar and Rickerson.
Boys Basketball Quilcene 72, Eastside Prep 34
QUILCENE — The Rangers (4-2, 7-4) proved to be too much for Eastside Prep, winning the SeaTac League game by 38 points Thursday night.
“We took advantage of a weak opponent,” Quilcene coach Mark Thompson said.
Brandon Bancroft sparked the Rangers by scoring 27 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, finishing with the double-double.
The Rangers next host Northwest Yeshiva on Tuesday starting at 7 p.m.

SILVERDALE — The Redskins came back to win the Olympic League game, which was postponed with the teams still playing in the fourth quarter last week.
Excessive rain caused the game delay until Thursday night.
The game started with only six minutes left in the fourth quarter with the Eagles leading 36-34.
After a few traded baskets, Port Townsend came out on top after Seiji Thielk hit a 3-point shot to put the Redskins ahead for good.
Port Townsend made a few free throws to add some icing to the cake.
“I was proud of our kids for going on the road and pulling it off,” Port Townsend coach Tom Webster said.
This was a must-win game for the Redskins to stay in the playoff hunt this year.
The Redskins will next host North Kitsap on Tuesday with the game starting at 7 p.m.
