SPORTS: Playoffs resume Tuesday night for some area boys and girls basketball teams

Five North Olympic Peninsula high school basketball teams continue playoff games today, including Sequim girls and both Neah Bay and Quilcene boys and girls squads.

The Sequim Wolves open Class 2A first-round West Central District Tournament double-elimination action at Foss High School in Tacoma against Olympic at 6 p.m.

The winner of this game faces Port Angeles in the second round Thursday at Foss starting at 6 p.m. The Roughriders have a first-round bye.

The loser of the game plays the loser between Clover Park and Kingston in the consolation bracket at Curtis High School in University Place at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

In Class 1B action, meanwhile, both the Neah Bay boys and girls teams are in the tri-district championship bracket one win away from playing for first and second places and a state berth.

The two teams play a doubleheader tonight at Mount Rainier Lutheran High School in Tacoma. The Red Devil girls play Northwest Yeshiva at 5 p.m. and the boys play host Mount Rainier Lutheran at 7 p.m.

The tri-district championship games are set for Mountlake Terrace High School in Edmonds on Friday.

The Quilcene Rangers boys and girls, meanwhile, play for their lives in loser-out games. The Quilcene boys play at Christian Faith High School of Federal Way against Christian Faith at 7 p.m.

The girls, meanwhile, play at Tulalip Heritage High School of Marysville against Tulalip at 6 p.m.

Winners of those games advance to play Friday while losers go home.
