SPORTS: Peninsula College men preserve perfect division record

PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula men’s basketball team kept its hot shooting and tough defense going Saturday night to preserve its perfect NWAACC North Division record.

The Pirates (3-0 in league, 6-6 overall) led the game from start to finish, posting their third straight game with 80 or more points in an 85-76 victory over Skagit Valley (2-1, 8-4).

The victory puts Peninsula at .500 for the first time since a three-game losing streak had it at 3-6 to being the season.

Ryan Rutherford had 16 points and four assists for the Pirates, while Jason Gamblin added nine rebounds and seven points.

Peninsula hosts Seattle Community College on Wednesday in their next game.

The Peninsula women lost their match-up against Skagit Valley 71-33.

Down 33-12 at the half, the Pirates could never scratch their way back into this one.
