PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles girls swimming and diving team swamped an undermanned Sequim squad at William Shore Memorial Pool on Tuesday.
The Roughriders, 2-0 in the Olympic League, won 144-28 by capturing all 12 events and sweeping eight of them.
Double winners were Tracie Macias, Emily Little and Jenna Moore.
Tracie Macias claimed the 50-yard freestyle in 27.42 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 1:10.83 while Little was first in the 200 free in 2:14.06 and the 500 free in 6:14.69.
Moore was tops in the 200 individual medley in 2:33.62 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:21.40.
Port Angeles had seven district qualifiers and three relay teams that qualified for the district championships.
Little qualified in the 200 and 500 free while Moore qualified in the 100 breast and Tracie Macias qualified in the 50 free and 100 fly.
Kaitlin Fairchild also made the district time in the fly with a time of 1:11.42 for second.
Kelsey Macias was first and qualified in the 100 backstroke (1:09.86).
Also with district times were the 200 medley relay (2:06.36) with Kelsey Macias, Moore, Fairchild and Tracie Macias, the 200 free relay (1:53.40) with Tracie Macias, Tarah Erickson, Tori Bock and McKenna Bell-Duffy and the 400 free relay (4:16.16) with Bell-Duffy, Delaney Ronish, Lexie Pankowski and Sandy Gudgel.
Sequim’s best place was second by Rachel Hardy in the 50 free.
Hardy was third in the 500 free while Anna Mittmann took third in the 100 breast for the Wolves.
“Well, today was the first meet for our little team,” Sequim coach Linda Moats (formerly Bingler) said.
“The new girls were very happy that they could swim. Some of the veterans were happy with their improvement over last year’s best times, others were disappointed.
“Of course we couldn’t come close to competing against Port Angeles’ 29 strong team, but we had fun.”
Surprise talents Ellie Hubbard and Serena Okamoto scored points for the team in both of their events while Rachel Hughes was the only swimmer to improve her times from last year.
The Riders next swim at Olympic on Thursday while the Wolves compete against Klahowya on Sept. 23.
Volleyball Port Angeles 3, Foster 0
TUKWILA — The Roughriders improved to 2-0 on the year with the nonleague victory against Foster on Tuesday night.
The Riders host Foster tonight in back-to-back matches before starting Olympic League play at home Thursday against Bremerton.
Port Angeles beat Foster 25-19, 25-12, 25-14.
Emily Drake led the Riders by going a perfect 17-for-17 in serves with seven aces while earning 15 assists.
Darian Foley served three aces while getting four kills and two blocks.
Emily Cook led at the net with eight kills while Lauren Coventon had seven digs and Chloe Johnston earned three aces.
Crescent 3, Port Angeles JV 0
PORT ANGELES — The Crescent varsity put away the Roughrider JV team 25-16, 25-18, 25-23 on Tuesday.
The Loggers remain perfect on the year at 3-0.
“We played a scrappy match and covered the floor well,” Crescent coach Alex Baker said.
Mikela Williams was 14-of-15 serving with an ace, two kills and two blocks while freshman starter Bonny Hazelett was a perfect 18-of-18 serving with four aces.
Rachel Poats went 9-of-10 from the service line with two aces, two kills, a block and a tip while Rachel Bowen was 6-of-7 serving with two aces and five assists.
The Loggers next play at North Sound Christian in Seattle this coming Tuesday.
“North Sound Christian is probably our toughest district opponent besides league,” Baker said.
Montesano 3, Forks 0
MONTESANO — The Spartans lost their first Southwest Washington League match to Montesano on Tuesday night.
Forks now is 0-1 in league and 0-2 overall.
Paige Kennedy led the Spartans with nine kills and five stuffs.
Taylor Ingram had six assists in the match.
The Spartans next host Tenino on Thursday.
Neah Bay 3, Taholah 1
NEAH BAY — After dropping the first game, Neah Bay rallied to remain unbeaten against the Chitwins in four games, 18-25, 25-14, 25-12, 25-10.
“They played well,” Neah Bay coach Chon Clayton said of his team.
“They are learning and working through different personnel.”
Stephanie Green had 13 aces and four kills and Rebecca Thompson finished with 11 aces and five kills.
Neah Bay visits Taholah next Tuesday.
Girls Soccer Central Kitsap 5, Port Angeles 0
SILVERDALE — Port Angeles dropped its first match of the season to the Class 4A Cougars on Tuesday night.
“CK is a very skilled team,” Port Angeles (1-0-0, 2-1-0) coach Scott Moseley said.
“They have a few players with full rides to D-1 schools and they are just overall a quicker team.”
Moseley was impressed with Roughrider goalkeeper Elise Reid for stopping three one-on-one breakaways, Paxton Rodocker’s defense and Lauren Corn in transition.
Port Angeles hosts Bremerton on Thursday.
