TACOMA — The Chimacum boys basketball team held strong down the stretch, defeating Charles Wright 70-63 in overtime Friday night.
Chimacum (1-1 in league, 2-6 overall) gave up the lead in the fourth quarter but managed to hold the Terriers to just two points in the extra frame to take the Class 1A Nisqually League match-up.
Landon Cray scored a game-high 29 points on the Cowboys victory, while Dylan Brown added 17.
The Cowboys next play at Quilcene on Dec. 29 in a nonleague affair.

Quilcene 40, Crosspoint 25
QUILCENE — The Rangers’ defense and strong scoring in the first and final quarters ensured a decisive win Friday night.
Pat Knox had 14 points and delivered 18 rebounds for Quilcene (1-1, 2-4), which claimed its first 2B Sea-Tac League win of the season.
Brandon Bancroft added 14 while bringing down 10 boards for the Rangers.
The difference maker for Quilcene was Dan Davidson taking the sting out of Crosspoint’s point guard, according to Quilcene coach Mark Thompson.
“Davidson shut Chase Estes down, limiting him to just eight,” Thompson said.
Estes was averaging 18 points per game.
“We gave a great effort defensively from start to finish,” Thompson said.
The Rangers host Klahowya on Monday at 3:30 p.m.

BELFAIR — The Redskins fought hard but came up short against the Bulldogs on Friday night in Olympic League action.
Evan O’Brien scored 16 points for Port Townsend (1-4, 2-4) in the loss.
Eric Thomas added five points, while Cameron Robinson had four for the Redskins.
Division I football recruit John Fullington paced the Bulldogs with 18 points.

Ian Ward led the Riders (3-2, 4-3) with seven points while Antonio Stevenson chipped in five.
“We’re struggling offensively right now,” Riders’ coach wes Armstrong said. “Our defense is keeping us in games.”
Port Angeles travels to Puyallup on Monday.

TENINO — The Spartans pulled out a tight SWL-Evergreen Division game against the Beavers on Friday night.
Brady Castellano led a balanced scoring attack for Forks (1-1, 4-2) with eight points. Fernando Hernandez sank seven points and grabbed 10 rebounds to anchor the middle.
“We overcame a lot of turnovers early and held tough down the stretch,” Forks coach Scott Justus said.

Brooke Little’s 17 points highlighted the Redskins (1-4, 1-6) offense.
Kerri Evalt had eight and Alexa Russell dropped in four points to keep Port Townsend close.

Samantha Benner scored 16 points to lead Chimacum (0-2, 3-5).
Kaylie Castillo added seven points for the Cowboys.
“We just didn’t match up well in size,” Chimacum coach Mike Clarke said. “Once we get all our players back on the court, we will be a different team.”

SNOQUALMIE — The Riders (4-0, 5-1) showed up late to their game in more ways than one Saturday.
Delayed by a Hood Canal Bridge closure, Port Angeles arrived at Mount Si 20 minutes late.
The team, down 42-29 after three quarters against the Wildcats of the 3A Kingco, had the same problem after tip-off. The result: the Riders’ first loss of the season.
“We just got there and we weren’t ready to play,” Port Angeles coach Mike Knowles said. “By the time we started playing a little bit, it was too late.”
