FORKS — Frank Noles had a double-double for the Forks boys basketball team but it wasn’t enough to upset undefeated Onalaska on Thursday night.
Onalaska, 18-0 on the year, beat Forks 57-35 in the Southwest Washington League game.
The Spartans had held Onalaska to three points in the third quarter and came within eight points with four minutes to play but Onalaska hit four 3-pointers in a row to breeze to the win.
Forks fell to 4-8 in league and 8-10 overall.
“We have to win our last two games and hope for help or we won’t qualify for a pigtail game,” Forks coach Scott Justus said.
The Spartans next travel to Toledo on Tuesday on their quest for a playoff berth.
Noles swished in a team-high 14 points and brought down 11 rebounds for a double-double. He also had five blocked shots.
Brady Casetllano and Fernando Hernandez had three blocked shots each.
“A good thing is that we’re a good third-quarter team,” Justus said. “We held them to one basket in the third quarter.”
The Spartans went to a match-up zone in the third quarter that helped hold Onalaska to just three points.

FORKS — Third-place Onalaska beat the Spartans (2-10, 5-13) in the Southwest Washington League game Thursday night.
Forks has two games left as it gets no easier with a road game at first-place Toledo on Tuesday night.
Senior post Mariah Dillard led the Spartans with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Paige Kennedy pulled down an amazing 12 boards in the game.

Boys Swimming Divisionals
PORT ANGELES — Sequim’s Kris Petersen qualified for the West Central District championships in the 100-yard butterfly at the Olympic League divisionals at William Shore Memorial Pool on Thursday.
Petersen finished the race six seconds better than he swam last week and qualified for districts by almost two seconds.
“He’s a natural,” Sequim coach Linda Moats said of Petersen.
In another strong performance, Duncan Skinner improved in the 200 individual medley by 15 seconds.
Sequim diver Ezra Perkins, diving in an exhibition at divisionals, was just shy of the qualifying points for state.
