SEQUIM — The Olympic Peninsula Eagles semipro football team continues to roll two games into the season.
The Eagles dominated the Washington Cavaliers of Olympia 16-0 at Sequim High School on Saturday evening to remain perfect on the year at 2-0.
Ryan Swindler ran for 75 yards and had two touchdowns as the Eagles prepared for Cascade Football League play.
League competition started Saturday but Olympic Peninsula had a league bye.
The Eagles open league action this coming Saturday against powerhouse Seattle Stallions at Edmonds-Woodway Stadium in Edmonds at 6 p.m.
The Stallions captured second place in league last year.
Before leaving for Edmonds on Saturday, though, the Eagles will be holding a football clinic for children from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sequim community picnic.
“The players will be there to give a mini-combine for kids,” Eagles coach Mike McMahan said.
Football fans of all ages will be able to meet the players at the picnic.
And those players are performing very well right now, scoring all 16 points in the second half to beat the Cavaliers on Saturday.
Swindler carried the ball 16 times to gain the 75 yards, scoring one touchdown in the third quarter and a second one in the fourth. He also ran in both two-point conversions.
Quarterback Kenny Hall was 10-of-18 with 120 yards and one interception while wide receiver Greg Olekas had two catches for 41 yards.
For the second week in a row, Olekas had a touchdown called back. This time he caught a 22-yard bomb in the first half that was nullified because of a block in the back field.
“That was a questionable call,” McMahan said.
Eric Johnson Jr. had a key catch for 27 yards while Swindler had one catch for 10 yards.
Swindler is rushing for a little more than 4 yards a carry.
B.J. Johnson ran six times for 28 yards for the Eagles.
