SEQUIM — Kingston beat Sequim for the first time in six tries by pounding the Wolves 47-28 behind four touchdowns from Nick Tabanera.
Worse than the loss for the Wolves was a scary injury to sophomore running back Brady Vig with 36 seconds remaining in the game. The game officials called the game so so Vig could be placed on a stretcher and taken away in an ambulance.
After the game, Sequim (0-4, 0-6) head coach Erik Wiker said Vig hurt his neck but was able to move.
“We wish and hope for the best, but there were a lot of good signs and it was more precautionary than it is, ‘he’s not moving something,'” Wiker said.
The Wolves reached the scoreboard first by marching 78 yards on the first drive of the game, with quarterback Jack Wiker finishing the possession with the first of his four touchdowns.
But Kingston (3-1, 3-3) reeled off 21 consecutive points and led 27-14 at halftime.
After Wiker’s third touchdown cut the lead to 34-21, Tabanera squirted through the line and ran untouched from there for a 47-yard touchdown run that put the Buccaneers ahead by 20 points with 8:39 remaining in the game.
