PORT ANGELES — The national high school basketball champions from Kenya arrived on Saturday to begin playing a two-week series of exhibition games on the Olympic Peninsula.
St. Austin’s Academy of Nairobi sent both its girls and boys teams for the tour and games against area high schools and players from Peninsula College.
This will be the third contingent of African players to visit the area.
The last two visits by African teams were in 1998 and 1999.
The games will begin on Monday at Neah Bay High School with the girls game starting at 5:30 p.m. and the boys game following.
Other scheduled games include a set on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. against players from Peninsula College, at the same times on July 13 at Port Angeles High School and July 16 at Sequim High School.
There are also tentatively scheduled games against teams made up of Port Townsend and Chimacum athletes, but no dates have been set.
