SPORTS: Forks High School excels at Linfield College football camp

McMINNVILLE, Ore. — The Forks High School football team picked up several honors at last weekend’s prestigious Linfield College summer football camp.

Team wise, the Class 1A Spartans competed in three events to retain the title of the Wildcats Challenge, despite being the smallest of the 15 schools in attendance.

The Spartans participated in tug-of-war, team high jump and sumo for the Wildcat Challenge.

They captured first in the sumo, second in tug-of-war and third in the high jump to win the Wildcat Challenge by a landslide.

The camp had 15 schools and more than 1,500 players in attendance.

Earning individual honors for Forks were Dimitri Sampson, Leo Gonzales and Miguel Morales.

Sampson captured two awards for running back and linebacker while Morales won one for offensive line and Gonzales claimed two awards for tight end and defensive line.
