FORKS — The Forks High School girls basketball team solidified third place in the Southwest Washington League and picked up a pass to the postseason after defeating Rochester 64-27 in league play Tuesday night.
“After losing three heart-breaking games in a row, we really needed a breakout win,”‘ Spartans head coach Todd Fraker said. “This was a really big win for us.”
Tessa Leppell led the way for the Spartans (7-7 in league, 9-10 overall) with 21 points, followed by Tab Gaydeski with 10.
Julie Steveson had a big night at point for the Spartans with six points, seven assists and eight steals.
“We finally dominated the boards and the other team for once,” Fraker said, after the Spartans held Rochester to just six offensive rebounds in the game. “It was good to see the girls finally playing up to their level.”
Forks will travel to Montesano on Thursday for its final league game of the season.
