FORKS — Forks out-dueled Neah Bay in nonleague volleyball action.
The Spartans took five games to handle the Red Devils on Saturday night, and had to overcome a 2-1 deficit.
Forks won 25-18, 14-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-11.

BOTHELL — The Cowboys fell to Nisqually League foe the Eagles on Friday 25-19, 25-17, 18-25, 25-19.
For Chimacum, Megan Dukek had 14 assists, one kill and seven digs; Lauren Thacker had nine kills, six blocks and 10 digs; Olivia Baird had five kills and 25 digs; Audrey Thacker had two kills, two blocks and 11 digs; Kiersten Snyder contributed 11 digs; and Alyssa Hamilton finished with two blocks and nine digs.
The Cowboys host Eatonville today and Bellevue Christian on Thursday.

QUILCENE — The Rangers opened their season with a three-game victory over Crosspoint Academy.
Quilcene won 25-21, 25-19, 26-24.
Senior captain Kiani Clissold served 15 for 16 with four aces, eight kills and six digs.
Junior middle blocker Sammy Rae was 11 for 15 serving, with four aces, six kills, two digs and two blocks.
Elyssah Schryver was a perfect 11 for 11 serving, with five aces and one kill; Bailey Kiefer served 10-11, with an ace and three kills; Allie Jones had 25 assists; and Katie Bailey was 14-15 serving with six aces, three digs and seven kills.
Quilcene hosts Clallam Bay today.

PORT TOWNSEND — Facing the Knights was made more challenging for the Redskins by several injuries, including one to Jewel Johnson which will keep her out for one to two weeks.
“After letting in a couple of unfortunate goals in the first half, the team rallied to present a defiant face in the second half,” Port Townsend coach Colin Foden said of Saturday’s game.
Bremerton’s only second-half goal came on a late free kick.
Fodin lauded Brenna Latchford and Becca Stewart for having outstanding games despite being forced to play in unfamiliar positions.
“[Goalkeeper] Malia Henderson made some amazing saves, and Reilly Berkshire again raised the level of her game,” Foden said.
“There were encouraging signs of improvement from both Rosemay D’Andera and Fruini Rubio, as they are beginning to get used to the demands of varsity soccer.”
Port Townsend (0-3) next plays at North Kitsap on Tuesday.

BREMERTON — The Redskins’ strategy against the defending Olympic League co-champions was strong defense and counter attack.
Although the Eagles pegged Port Townsend back for most of the game, Klahowya were reduced to taking long shots at goal where Mia Henderson blocked almost everything that came her way.
For over an hour, the Redskins played this strategy with fierce determination, restricting Klahowya to two unstoppable goals.
Three goals in a late 15-minute spell made the score a little less favorable for Port Townsend, but coach Colin Foden said it was a valuable lesson in defending, and that the team cam away with a sense of success even though it lost.
“Mia Henderson, Anne Meek and Becca Stewart continue to be the stalwarts of the defense, but it was good to see Brenna Latchford return to the team,” Foden said.
“It was hard work defending for that long, but every player contributed to a really fine defensive performance.”
Meek finally broke through the Klahowya defense near the end of the game, only to have her shot saved.

BREMERTON — The Roughriders came up short against the Trojans at Silverdale Stadium on Saturday.
Port Angeles fell behind early, giving up a goal on a 25-yard shot by Olympic’s Izzy Tyner.
The Riders regrouped and played evenly after that.
“After their goal, our defense and pressure picked up, and we played evenly with them,” Port Angeles Coach Scott Moseley said.
Khaya Elliott provided the best chance at the 70th minute when she tracked down a ball near the Trojans’ goal, only to have her shot knocked wide by the Olympic’s goalkeeper.
Olympic scored on a corner kick with two minutes left to seal the game.
Defender Elyse Lovgren had another excellent game and was named by Moseley as the co-defensive player of the game, along with goalkeeper Hayley Baxley.
Baxley had 11 saves in goal.
Elliott was chosen as the Riders’ offensive player of the game.
Port Angeles (0-2) faces Klahowya next Tuesday back at Silverdale Stadium.
The Riders JV team lost 5-0.
Cross Country
Riders at Bellermine Invite
TACOMA — Port Angeles competed at the Bellarmine Invitational as the only 2A school among the event’s 17 teams.
The Roughriders girls placed seventh and the boys took 14th.
The Port Angeles girls picked up right where they left off from last year’s state-participating team.
They were led by Elizabeth Stevenson with a time of 13:09.
It was the third year Stevenson competed at the Bellarmine Invite.
“It’s a great race to compete against the best in the area. Gets us ready for our postseason races,” she said.
Also for the Riders, Willow Suess took two minutes of last year’s Bellermine time with a 13:23.
Annika Pederson recorded a 14:11, Dusti Lucas’ time was 14:18, Taylor Jones had a 14:20, and Astrid Schick finished in 14:59.
Port Angeles coach Cheryl Gerardi was pleased with the girls first outing.
“We’ve been working pretty hard this week, so we knew the girls were a bit tired; but we came here to compete, and that is just what the girls did,” she said.
The boys were paced by junior Peter Butler at 10:44.
Seniors Tony Dalgarno and Evan Herbert came in at 11:37 and 11:41, respectively.
Other Port Angeles varsity boys times were: Hunter Dempsey (12:27), Jordan Johnson (12:37), Mark Reid (13:12), Noah Johnson (14:17), Cody Anderson (13:13), Forrest Clark (12:20), Sam Waddell (14:24), Jacob Higbee (15:41)
In the freshman race, Tristan Butler broke into the top ten, placing eighth with a time of 11:42 in the 2-mile race, the highest placing ever by a Port Angeles runner the race.
“I ran a 5:40 first mile, and I had to dig a little deeper even though I thought I couldn’t dig any more,” Butler said.
Port Angeles hosts the Salt Creek Invite on Saturday.
The varsity races begin at 11:30 a.m. for the boys and 12:01 p.m. for the girls.
The JV boys run at 10:30 a.m., and the JV girls at 11 a.m.
The 1-mile elementary and middle school boys and girls race starts at 9:15 a.m., and the 3-mile open race begins at 9:45 a.m.
