FRIDAY HARBOR — The Forks boys soccer team cruised to a 4-1 victory over Friday Harbor on Friday night, outscoring the Wolverines 3-1 in the second half for a nonleague win.
Forks senior Victor Armenta began the scoring blitz for the Spartans (2-1 in league, 3-2 overall), scoring the only goal of the first half.
The Wolverines got on the board in the first minute of the second half.
“They really caught us off guard with that goal,” coach Brian Bowers said.
Juan Beltran scored for the Spartans in the 46th minute and assisted on Alexis Ayala’s goal in the 53rd.
Tyler Cortani had a goal sandwiched between the two scores in the 47th minute.
Fernando Hernandez dished out two assists.
Forks travels to play Montesano on April 6 after its spring break.

FIFE — The shorthanded Redskins succumbed to a relentless Fife offensive attack in a nonleague road match Friday night.
Goalkeeper Ethan Berg played well in the net despite missing four starters in the defensive backfield
Port Townsend (2-2 overall), travelling with just 11 athletes due to injury and illness, was outshot 16-9 by the Trojans and trailed 3-0 at intermission.
Port Townsend hosts Port Angeles on Monday at Memorial Field in a game benefitting the Andy Palmer Memorial Scholarship.

PORT TOWNSEND — The Wolves bats came alive early, putting together a terrific highlight in a mercy-rule victory over the Redskins on Friday afternoon.
Matt Reis came to the plate with two outs in the first inning, worked the count full, and proceeded to take a high fastball for a ride over the fence for a grand slam home run.
The four runs batted in with Reis’ dinger contributed to a giant six-run opening frame by Sequim.
Isaac Yamamoto was 2-for-2 on the day with a double, triple, four runs scored and two stolen bases.
Preston McFarland was also 2-for-2 while scoring twice.
Sequim pitcher Drew Rickerson went all five innings, striking out seven and giving up just three hits.
Sequim (2-1 in league, 3-3 overall) travels to play Klahowya on Tuesday.

PORT ANGELES — Roughrider hitters failed to score any runs with six scattered hits against Knights pitching on Saturday.
Ryan Senf took the loss, giving up three early runs in two innings pitched.
Cody Sullivan led the Rider hitting contingent with three hits, while A.J. Konopaski added two in addition to providing two innings of relief on the mound.
Newport came into the game with a roster returning most of its starters from a fourth-place state finish last season.
That includes two Division 1 signees.

KENT — The Rider boys track team took seventh place out of the 21 teams competing in Saturday’s meet, while the girls squad was 16th out of 19 teams.
Mehdi Ettehadulhagh placed fourth in both the 100 and 200 meters finals, with times of 11.48 and 23.11 seconds, respectively.
In the 3,200 meter race, John Christian came in sixth in a time of 10 minutes, 6.44 seconds.
The 4-by-100 relay team consisting of Rylan Spencer, Cameron Braithwaite, Parley Scott and Ettehadulhagh finished eighth with a time of 46.49.
Troy Martin placed sixth in both the discuss (129 feet, 4 inches) and the javelin (135-3).
Adam Raemer tied for third place overall in the pole vault competition, clearing the 12-foot mark.
Alison Maxwell took fourth place in the 3,200 meters race, finishing in 12:40.05.
Katelyn Noard was fourth in the javelin throw with a distance of 97-10 and placed 12th in the discuss with a throw of 84-3.
Cece Stevenson tied for eighth place in the high jump, clearing 4-10.
