Sports: Forks beats Ridgefield to advance to state playoffs

MONTESANO — Three players combined for 33 points to lead Forks High School to the state Class 2A tournament.

The Spartans defeated Ridgefield 45-39 in a Southwest Washington District playoff game to advance to the district championship contest Saturday night.

Forks, 18-4, will finish no worse that second in district. But the Spartans aren’t aiming low.

“Our goal is the district championship,” Forks assistant coach Bob Enos said. Enos helped coach the team to the win because head coach Scott Justus was still recovering from a blood infection.

Justus was discharged from the hospital Tuesday and made it to the game 10 minutes before it started. He and Enos sat together on the bench, coaching the team.

“Scott’s presence gave a big boost to the team,” Enos said.
