PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles High School fastpitch team got off to a winning start in Narrows League competition with a 12-2 blowout of Lincoln on Friday.
The game was called by 10-run mercy rule in the fifth inning.
Kayla Ralston picked up the win and went 1-for-2 at the plate, scoring two runs for Port Angeles (1-0 in league, 3-3 overall).
Sarah Bussell and Mackenzie Larson were both 2-for-3 at the plate. Each hit a home run and scored twice.
Kirsten Allen and Kati McCaslin each drove in two RBIs and Cami Fors scored three times.
Hoquiam 12, 15; Forks 0, 0
HOQUIAM — Forks had only one hit Saturday and dropped both games of a Southwest Washington League doubleheader with Hoquiam.
The Grizzlies won the opener in five innings and the nightcap in four.
Katrina Reim no-hit Forks (0-2 in league, 2-4 overall) in the first game.
Tara Fletcher was the losing pitcher.
Tessa Lepell had the lone hit for the Spartans in the second game.
“She hit the ball well a couple of different times, it just happened to be right at somebody,”‘ Forks head coach Bob Wheeler said.
Lepell was the losing pitcher in the second game.
Chimacum 2, Cedar Park Christian 1
CHIMACUM — Starting pitcher Caitlan Eldridge went the distance and picked up the win for the Cowboys on Friday.
Eldridge was also 3-for-4 at the plate for Chimacum (3-1 in league, 4-4 overall).
Baseball Chimacum 11, Klahowya 6
SILVERDALE — The Cowboys bounced back from a 4-0 first inning deficit to beat the Eagles in Nisqually League play Friday.
Danny Knudsen (2-1) earned the win for Chimacum (2-2 in league, 6-4 overall).
The Cowboys trailed by four until the top of the sixth inning, when they scored six runs to take the lead for good.
Tony Bragg was 2-for-2 at the plate for Chimacum, Brad Martin went 2-for-5, and Adam Freitas went 2-for-4 with a double.
Women’s Softball Shoreline 5, 14; Peninsula 1, 1
PORT ANGELES — The Pirates opened their Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges North Division season with a pair of losses on Friday.
Peninsula (0-2 in conference, 2-4 overall) was held to only three hits in the first game.
The nightcap was a blowout as the Dolphins won 14-1 in five innings.
Jenni Perry and Jessie Baxter each went 2-for-3 for the Pirates.
Brittany Senf, Peninsula’s starting pitcher in the first game, left that contest with an injury to her throwing arm in the fifth inning and did not return for the second game.
