SPORTS: Edmonds shades Peninsula College men’s basketball team 71-67

EDMONDS — Edmonds shaded the Peninsula College men’s basketball team by four points Monday night.

Edmonds held off the Pirates 71-67.

Peninsula fell to 4-2 in NWAACC North Division competition.

“It was another disappointing loss for us,” Peninsula coach Peter Stewart said.

“We need to toughen up in order to play college basketball more consistently.”

Edmonds led 36-32 at halftime.

Peninsula shot 40 percent from the field and 46 percent from the free-throw line.

Sequim’s Ryan Rutherford led the Pirates with 16 points while Jason Gamblin was right behind with 15.

Russell Jackson sank 11 points while Christian Manzanza added eight.

Edmonds outrebounded Peninsula 43-31.

The Pirates next host Everett on Wednesday night.

The women’s team plays at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 7 p.m.
