SPORTS: Crescent, Quilcene girls basketball teams earn wins

JOYCE — Kylie Mitts scorched the nets for 37 points to spark the Crescent girls basketball team to its second victory of the year Monday night.

The Class 1B Loggers ripped the 1A Chimacum junior varsity team 58-33 as Mitts alone outscored the Cowboys.

“The kids played much better,” Crescent coach Terry Kahler said. “They are getting better every day.”

The Loggers exploded for 20 points in the second quarter to take control of the game.

They trailed 7-6 after one period but led 26-15 at halftime and 35-30 going into the fourth quarter.

A dominating 23-3 final period let Crescent easily win by 25 points.

Sarah Moore added 11 points for the Loggers.

Crescent next hosts Clallam Bay on Wednesday.

Quilcene 43, Chief Leschi 19

PUYALLUP — Kacey Ingalls and Leanne Weed combined for 30 points to spark the Rangers to the Class 2B victory Friday night.

Ingalls and Weed scored 15 points each as Quilcene (1-8, 3-10) led 19-1 after one quarter, 23-8 at halftime and 40-11 going into the final period.
