PORT ANGELES — The Crescent boys and girls both finished first at the North Olympic League’s sub-district track meet.
The girls finished with a team score 74, nearly double second place Neah Bay, finished with 40 points.
Clallam Bay was third with 26.
Kellie Belford took home four crowns for the Loggers, including three relay wins and the 300-meter hurdles.
Mike Zapien and Joel Williams led the Crescent boys.
Zapien won all three throwing events.
He threw the shot put 44-11, the discus 122-07 and the javelin 152-11.
Zapien leads the tri-district in all three events.
Williams ran away with both hurdle crowns, and teamed with Michael Waldrip, Donovan Christie and Kyle Hutto to win the 4×400-meter relay.
Christie was another triple-winner for the loggers.
Along with the 4×400 relay, he also won the long jump with 18-6 and the high jump with 5-10.
The Crescent boys finished with a team score of 56.
Neah Bay was second with 37 points and Clallam Bay had 37.
Titus Pascua and Joshua Monette were both triple-winners for Neah Bay.
They teamed up with Harold Tyler and Joey Monje to win the 4×100-meter relay.
Pascua also finished first in the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash.
Monette won the 1600-meter and 800-meter runs.
For the Neah Bay girls, Courtney Winck claimed the 100-meter hurdles and long jump crowns.
Clallam Bay’s Jeddie Herdnon won the girls 1600- and 800-meter runs.
Nisqually League
ORTING — Long-distance standout Brittany Grant captured one individual event and placed in two others to spark the Port Townsend girls track team to third place in the Nisqually League sub-district meet this weekend at Orting High School.
The Redskins took third with 91 points while host Orting dominated the meet with 199 and Charlies Wright was second with 104.
Chimacum took sixth place in the eight-team meet.
On the boys side, the Cowboys claimed fourth place and the Redskins were a position behind in fifth.
Charles Wright won with 192 points while the Cowboys had 40 and Port Townsend 29.
Grant, meanwhile, had the best performance of the day by capturing first in the 800-meter run in 2:29.89, third in the 1600 in 5:31.46 and fourth in the 3200 in 12:33.59.
Grant still has the top times in 1A West Central District in both the 800 and 1600 races going into the district championships this coming weekend.
Also for the Redskins at sub-districts, Marie Karlsen was third in the 400 and fourth in long jump, Jewell Johnson claimed third in the 200, Rebecca Stewart took third in the 300 hurdles and second in triple jump, and Patricia Reeves was third in triple jump.
Chimacum’s Krista Hathaway took fourth in javelin with a toss of 98-4.
In boys competition, Chimacum’s David Glessing captured second in the 300 hurdles in 45.96, Daryl Settlemire was third in discus at 119-6 and Quinn L’Heureux took fourth in 110 hurdles in 19.23.
For the Redskins, Chad Smith earned first in long jump with a 18-11.25 leap, Skyler Coppenrath was third in triple jump at 38.7.5 and fourth in the 800 in 2:09.43.
