Sports: Clallam Bay wins B-8 playoff round 54-14

SILVERDALE — Brandon Rodriguez and Adam Lovik each scored two touchdowns Friday night and the Clallam Bay High School football team was hardly slowed by two weeks off.

The Bruins beat Taholah 54-14 in the opening round of the state B-8 football playoffs on a stiffly cold Kitsap Peninsula night.

Taholah’s running game was nearly inert, benumbed for just 67 yards on 43 carries against the bullheaded Bruins defense.

Temperatures dipped into the mid-20s but were hardly cold enough to freeze Clallam Bay’s heated offense.

More than 150 Bruins fans made the 2½-hour trip to support their team, 10-0 and ranked No. 1 in The Associated Press state poll.

Clallam Bay meets Jubilee Christian of Prescott next weekend in the state semifinals. The time and location of that game will be announced Monday by the WIAA, though Clallam Bay head coach Andy Ritter said it will be played on the east side of the Cascade Mountains.
