CLALLAM BAY — Taholah rallied in the second half to hand the Clallam Bay girls basketball team its first loss of the season Saturday night.
Taholah, down nine points at the half, surged back for a 53-43 victory.
The Bruins (2-1) led 31-22 at halftime but Taholah outscored them 31-12 in the third and fourth quarters to earn the win.
“We jumped out on them in the first half but they changed up their defense in the second half and that gave us some trouble,” Clallam Bay coach Kelly Gregory said.
Alisha Kallappa led the Bruins with 13 points while Jessica Angulo added nine.
Taholah had two players score in double figures with Kailein Charley making six 3-pointers for a game-high 20 points and teammate Kelly Grove adding 12.
Clallam Bay next hosts Lake Quinault tonight.
Vashon Island 57, Port Townsend 23
VASHON — The Redskins struggled in the second and third quarters in the 34-point nonleague loss Saturday night.
“We had good first and fourth quarters but disastrous second and third quarters,” Port Townsend coach Randy Maag said.
Port Townsend scored 10 points each in the first and fourth periods but managed just two points in the second stanza and one point in the third.
Vashon, meanwhile, took a 44-13 lead into the fourth quarter after outscoring the Redskins 34-3 in the two middle periods.
Sophomore Kerri Evalt led Port Townsend with 11 points while Kiley Maag added five.
Kelly Costello sparked Vashon Island with 16 points while Alisha Wendt sank 13.
The Redskins next play archrival Chimacum at Chimacum today at 5:15 p.m.
