CHIMACUM — The Chimacum softball team picked up its second consecutive win by routing rival Port Townsend 11-1 on Monday.
Senior Mallori Cossell doubled twice and drove in two runs, and Cydney Nelson had an inside-the-park home run and pitched three solid innings to earn the win for the Cowboys.
Ashley Kelly contributed two hits for Chimacum (1-2, 2-3).
After the Redskins scored in the top of the first inning, the Cowboys scored a pair of runs in their half of the first and added six runs in the bottom of the second.
Nelson struck out two and allowed four hits in her three innings on the mound
Ryley Eldridge relieved Nelson and pitched the final two innings, fanning five and not allowing a hit.
Third baseman Megan Dukek helped the pitchers with a pair of outs, including a double play, and Kyah McKinlay had a nice catch in right field.
Dukek also had a hit and an RBI.
For Port Townsend, Megan Lee and Kaila Olin both went 2 for 3 at the plate.
The Redskins (0-6, 0-7) return to Olympic League action Thursday when they host North Kitsap (2-3, 2-4).
Chimacum faces another Olympic League team when it plays at Sequim (5-0, 6-0) on Friday.

PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders earned their first win of the season with a shootout victory over the Knights at Civic Field on Monday night.
Bremerton (2-6, seven points) scored first on a 34th-minute goal in which Chris Sargent dribbled past Port Angeles goalkeeper Jack Doryland and passed the ball into an open net.
Port Angeles rallied in the second half to tie the score when freshman Wei-Yan Fu volleyed in a loose ball in the Bremerton penalty box.
The Knights put a lot of pressure on Port Angeles throughout the match, including shots off the crossbar and off the post, but the score remained tied 1-1 at the end of regulation
The Riders weathered a particularly rough storm in the first overtime period when Bremerton had a flurry of consecutive corner kicks.
With the score still 1-1 after the second overtime period, the match went to a penalty kick shootout.
In the shootout, Port Angeles goalkeeper Jack Doryland came up big with two saves.
Abinet Hayden, Vincent Ioffrida and Rasmus Aadeli made their kicks to give the Riders the win and their first two points of the season.
“We had some moments where we passed the ball well in midfield,” Port Angeles coach Chris Saari said.
“It is a huge win for us to break a seven-game losing streak and gain some confidence going into the second half of the season.”
Saari named Fu the offensive player of the match, and Doryland, Hayden Kays-Erdman and Tristan Isett shared defensive player of the game honors.
The Riders (1-7, two points) host Port Townsend (3-5, nine points) tonight at Civic Field.
North Kitsap 2,
Sequim 0
POULSBO — The Wolves faltered in the matchup of two of the Olympic League’s top teams Monday.
Nate Foster scored in the 55th minute for the Vikings (7-1, 21 points), and the scored remained 1-0 until the final minute of the match when North Kitsap scored on a penalty kick.
Sequim had a few chances to tie in the final minutes, but Mason Barrett and Nicholas Baird had shots go just wide of the goal.
“I was encouraged the way the kids played in the first game after a week off [due to spring break],” Sequim coach Dave Brasher said.
“I was encouraged in a loss, if that’s possible.”
Brasher named center defender Lijah Stanford the player of the match, and also praised the efforts of Barrett and Omar Flores.
The Wolves (5-3, 15 points) have another big match today on the road against Kingston (5-2, 15 points).

HOQUIAM — The Spartans dropped a pair of games to the Grizzlies on Monday.
The first game of the doubleheader was tight throughout, and was tied 3-3 until Hoquiam plated the go-ahead win in the fourth inning.
“We got a great start from Mark Jacobson,” Forks coach Wayne Daman said.
“He kept them off-balance.”
At the plate for the Spartans, Reis Lawson went 3 for 3 and Brett Pederson was 2 for 3.
Reece Hagan had a double and an RBI. Nick Gilmore and Troy Johnson also drove in runs for Forks, Gilmore on a sacrifice bunt and Johnson on a sacrifice fly.
In the second game, Hoquiam scored five runs in the first inning and rolled from there.
“They turned it on offensively, and we didn’t,” Daman said.
“We played pretty sound defense, but they had too many walks and timely hitting.”
