Sports: Chimacum rolls over Port Townsend

CHIMACUM — The Chimacum High School baseball team ran over Port Townsend 12-1 Friday in a Nisqually League game thanks in part to Marcus Moug’s three-hit performance on the mound.

Moug picked up his sixth win of the season and was 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI.

Port Townsend (5-10 in league) got a leadoff homer from Marcus Logue and two hits from Jeremiah Fountain.

Zac Garten went 3-for-4 for Chimacum (12-3 in league, 12-4 overall) and drove in a pair of runs.

Chris Chivers chipped in two hits and drove in three runs for the Cowboys; and Danny Knudsen was 1-for-3 with two runs driven in.

Forks 8-12, Montesano 7-2

FORKS — Wayne Daman hit a two-run home run in the opener to help the Spartans to a doubleheader sweep of Montesano on Friday in Southwest Washington League action.

Daman also picked up the second-game win on the mound, his fourth of the season, for Forks (8-3 in league, 8-5 overall).

In game one, Brad Messerschmidt had the winning single with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Dennis Miller got the win in the opener.

In the nightcap, Brian Dawkins was 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs.

Forks is currently tied with Rochester for second in the Southwest Washington League Evergreen Division.

Forks’ remaining games are against Tenino and Hoquiam. The Spartans also have to complete a delayed game against Rochester.

Forks is 1½ games back of Elma (10-2). The Spartans handed the Eagles both of their losses.

North Mason 10-13, Sequim 4-3

BELFAIR — The Wolves were blown out in both games of a Nisqually League doubleheader on Friday.

North Mason capitalized on 11 Sequim errors, eight of them in the second game, which was called by mercy rule in the fifth inning.

The Wolves fell to 4-12 in league, 5-13 overall.

In the first game, Arron Petroff took the loss. Tommy Iverson was the loser in the nightcap.

Angelo Fazio went 3-for-3 with a double in the second game for Sequim.
