Sports: Chimacum rises to 8-3 record with win over Foster

CHIMACUM — The Chimacum Cowboys jumped on the Foster Bulldogs with 10 runs in the first inning and easily won the Nisqually League baseball game 17-3 in five innings.

Chimacum is 8-2 in league and 8-3 overall.

Jesse Minish went three innings on the mound, picking up the win and improving to 3-1.

Chris Chivers hit a triple and had two RBIs while Zac Garten was 2-for-2 and Jared Shepard had a two-RBI double. Danny Knutson was 1-of-2 with an RBI.

Chimacum next plays at Sequim on Friday.

Port Angeles 8, South Kitsap 7

PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders avenged their April 4 loss to the Wolves in a Wednesday Narrows League meeting.

Port Angeles got a three-run homer from Matt Lane in the third inning, and a two-run home run in the fifth from Adam Macomber.

Nick Borchers pitched the seventh and got the win for the Roughriders (8-1 in league, 11-1 overall).

The game was won on an error by the South Kitsap shortstop, which allowed Nate Gossard to score in the bottom of the seventh on a Dale Brown grounder.

Sequim 6, Eatonville 5

SEQUIM — Anglo Fazio ripped a game-winning triple to score Chris Keithley in the sixth inning as the Wolves snapped a eight-game losing steak.

Sequim took a 1-0 lead in the second inning just to watch the Cruisers take a 5-1 advantage in the top of the sixth with five runs.

That set the table for Fazio’s heroics in the bottom of the sixth. Cory Warn had an RBI double in the inning while John Printz and Keithley both had singles. Tim Dosey was hit by the pitcher and later scored.

The Wolves are now 3-8 in the Nisqually League and 4-8 overall.

Tommy Iverson, Tim Newharth and Arron Petroff all combined on the mound to hold Eatonville to five runs. Petroff had the win.

Fazio went 2-for-4 while Shune Johnson, Printz, Warn, Ryan Smith, Keithley and Stephen Printz all had one hit each.

The Wolves host North Mason today and play at Chimacum on Friday.
