SEATAC — The Chimacum boys basketball team let a 10-point fourth quarter lead slip away Friday night, allowing the Seattle Christian Warriors to climb back for a 45-38 Nisqually League win.
Chimacum finished the night going 10-of-23 from the free throw line.
Derek Toepper led the Cowboys in scoring with 10 points. Landon Cray and Ryan Riggle each had eight.
Chimacum (1-4 in league, 3-10 overall) took a 31-22 lead into the fourth quarter.
After losing Dylan Brown to an injury, the Cowboys didn’t match up well against the Warriors’ MacKinnon Simpson, who scored 23 in the game.
Most of that came after Brown’s injury.
“Our foul shooting killed us down the stretch,” Cowboys coach Jim Eldridge said after the loss.
“We simply didn’t take advantage of our opportunities.”
