ORTING — The Chimacum baseball team remained perfect on the year after beating Orting 4-1 in Nisqually League action Monday.
Three pitchers combined for a three-hitter for the Class 1A defending state champions Cowboys (3-0, 3-0).
Quinn Eldridge (2-0) pitched threw the first four innings to pick up the victory, striking out six batters.
Landon Cray pitched the final two innings to earn his first save of the year.
The Cowboys rapped out five hits of their own with Victor Cienga going 2 for 3 and Eldridge helping his own cause by going 1 for 4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs.
Chimacum took the lead with two runs in the fourth inning.
After Orting scored once in the fifth, the Cowboys put the game away with two more runs in the seventh.

FORKS — The Warriors took the SWL-Evergreen Division doubleheader from the Spartans on Monday.
Rochester broke open the first game in the second inning with six runs on a Forks error, hit batter, a couple of walks and a couple of hits.
Michael Dean hit a double in the first game for the Spartans.
Mark Jacobs pitched the first six innings in the first game, giving up eight runs but only one was earned.
Dean came in from the bullpen and threw most of the second game.
Tre Harris led the Spartans at bat in the second game by going 3 for 5 with four RBIs.

Quilcene 26, Rainier Christian 7
QUILCENE — The Class 1B Rangers went wild in the five-inning Sea-Tac League game Monday against 2B Rainier Christian.
Quilcene was off to the races with 13 runs in the first inning. Three more runs were added in the second while the Rangers put the game away with another 10 runs in the fourth.
Sammy Rae fanned 11 batters in 3-plus innings for the Rangers, who improved to 2-0 in league and 2-2 overall.
Rae also blasted a home run in the game, going 2 for 5 with a double, three runs scored and three stolen bases to go along with the four-bagger.
Patrice Beringer was a perfect 3 for 3 in the game with four runs, three stolen bases and a walk.
Andrea Perez and Sophie Knutzen both went 1 for 2 each with three runs and three stolen bases apiece.
Kelsy Hughes also was 1 for 2, and she stole four bases while scoring three times. She also walked three times.

Forks doubleheader postponed
FORKS — A SWL-Evergreen Division doubleheader with Rochester couldn’t be played Monday because of a wet and muddy field in Forks despite just light rain that day.
The game was moved ahead from a scheduled Tuesday time to avoid heavy rain predicted to come into the area starting Tuesday, but the field just couldn’t be made playable in time Monday, Forks coach Scott Justus said.
The game probably wouldn’t be made up before spring break, which is next week for Forks.
The Spartans’ next scheduled game is after spring break.
