Annual Troll run delayed until early October
GARDINER — Though some of the smoke from British Columbia’s wildfires that once blanketed the Olympic Peninsula in recent days has cleared and air quality improved, Valley of the Trolls race organizers aren’t taking any chances.
With the theme “Trolls Gone Hawaiian,” the annual races — a half marathon, 10-kilometer and 5K — held at Bandy Farms and the Troll Haven grounds in Gardiner have been postponed to Saturday, Oct. 6.
The USATF-certified events sees runners and walkers traverse courses on a privately-owned estate occupying 150 acres along Discovery Bay at 950 Gardiner Beach Road.
With the catch phrase “Dust off your coconut bras and shake out your grass skirts, the Trolls have gone Hawaiian,” the annual races begin at 8 a.m.
Registration is $60 for the half-marathon run/walk; $45 for the 10K run/walk; and $40 for the 5K run/walk.

Pickleball tourney
SEQUIM — The Sequim Picklers will host their first pickleball tournament — The Blue Hole Bash — on the new courts at Carrie Blake Park with action from Friday through Sunday, Sept. 21-23.
Women’s doubles will begin at 11 a.m. Friday.
Men’s doubles begins at 8 a.m. Saturday and mixed doubles begins at 8 a.m. Sunday.
Carrie Blake Park is located at 202 N. Blake Ave., in Sequim.
Registration is $10 for players.
The event is free for spectators.
