Crosscutters to hold tryouts

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Crosscutters American Legion Single A Division baseball team will hold tryouts to expand its team for the upcoming 2018 season.

Seventh- through 10th-graders from anywhere on the Olympic Peninsula are encouraged to try out. Current players reside in Forks, Port Angeles, Sequim and the East Jefferson County area.

Tryouts will be held at 3 p.m. April 21 at the Sequim High School baseball fields. The game schedule starts on May 19 and includes approximately 35 games, concluding with district and state tournaments if the team qualifies.

Player fees are $400. Athletes will be responsible for transportation, lodging and food when traveling. Games will take place in Anacortes, Blaine and the northern Interstate 5 corridor. Scholarships are available.

Storm King tryouts

PORT ANGELES — Registration is open now for Storm King soccer tryouts.

All players must be registered to take part in tryouts, which will be held May 19 and 20. There is no fee to register.

Tryouts for the U10-U13 teams will be held from 8:30 to noon while U14-U19 tryouts will be held from 1:30 to 5 p.m.

May 19 will focus on skills and technical ability, while scrimmages will be held on May 20.

Storm King will register players from Boys U10-BU19 (boys born in 2010-2000) and girls U10-GU15 (girls born in 2010-2004).

Additionally, Storm King is always looking for coaching talent. Please contact Jay Marazon at stormkingdoc@hotmail.com if you are interested.

Fall registration fees will be increasing to $285 per player. This increase will help cover two summer tournaments, as well as assisting with coaching certifications, which are a key part in the development of players, teams and Storm King FC.
