Sequim’s Velarde, PT’s Foster in All-State game

YAKIMA — Two North Olympic Peninsula football players played in the 24th annual East-West Earl Borden All-Star Football Classic last weekend at Eisenhower High School’s Zaepfel Stadium.

Sequim senior wide receiver/defensive back Gavin Velarde and Port Townsend offensive and defensive lineman Jackson Foster played for the West team in a 20-12 defeat against the East.

Velarde played much of the game in the West’s defensive backfield but didn’t record any offensive statistics. Foster played on the offensive line for the West.

The game is for senior players in the 1B/2B 1A and 2A classifications.

Football/cheer camp

SEQUIM — The Sequim Wolf Pack hosts a football and cheer camp from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 9-11 at the Sequim High School practice fields off of Fir Street.

Cost is $35 for either camp. Cheer camp participants are asked to wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle. Football camp participants are asked to wear tennis shoes or cleats and bring a water bottle.

Sequim Wolf Pack registration is open now. Cost is $160 per football player, $125 for other siblings; cheer is $85, with $70 per other siblings.

Sequim Jr. Soccer

SEQUIM — Registration is underway for Sequim Junior Soccer’s fall soccer season at www.sequimjuniorsoccer.com.

Ages range from Little Kickers (birth years Sept. 2014-2015); U5-U6 through U13-U15.

Little Kickers’ registration fee through July 27 is $35, U5-U6 is $45 and U7 and older is $55.

After the July 27 deadline, a $10 late registration fee will be charged.

Coaches also are needed.
