Sequim grad honored for academics

BELLINGHAM — Former Sequim High School athlete Jasmine McMullin is among 33 Western Washington University student-athletes to receive the Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

To receive the honor, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher and have completed a minimum of two years of college-level work.

McMullin, a jumper for the Vikings’ track and field team, is an English Literature major with a 3.91 GPA.

Quilcene football

QUILCENE — The Quilcene High School football team will have its equipment registration today at 10 a.m. at the school.

Football practices begin Wednesday. Head coach Byron Wilson said the Rangers’ first practice will be that day at 9 a.m.

Port Angeles ticket prices

PORT ANGELES — Ticket prices for Port Angeles High School’s 2015-16 regular season athletic events will remain the same as last year, Port Angeles School District athletic director Dwayne Johnson has announced.

Football, volleyball, wrestling and basketball are the Port Angeles-hosted sports that require entry fees for Olympic League events. (Boys and girls soccer entry fees may be charged at other schools in the Olympic League.)

The cost is $6 for adults and students without Associated Student Body cards; $4 for middle school students, elementary students and the visiting school’s students; and $2 for adults 60 and older.

Port Angeles High School students with an Associated Student Body card and children age four and younger receive free entry to events.

Sports passes, either a 10-game punch pass for $45 or Port Angeles School District Family District Pass (for district employees only) for $60, may be purchased at the high school ASB bookkeeper office or at the door.

There are no advance single-entry ticket sales.

Ticket prices apply to regular season athletic events only. Postseason events — league, district, regional and WIAA State — require entry fees according to the particular event for all attendees.
