SEQUIM — More than 400 racers are expected to compete as cycling returns to the Olympic Peninsula with the 20th annual Tour de Dungeness race on March 11 and 18.
Riders in different categories will compete on a 12-mile course which includes Lotzgesell, Cays and East Anderson roads, Sequim-Dungeness Way, then Woodcock and Kitchen-Dick roads.
Races will start at 9:45 a.m. and will run until late afternoon, rain or shine. Race organizers expect as many as 450 racers from all across the Puget Sound and Eastern Washington areas.
Motorists driving on these roads March 11 and 18 should prepare for the possibility of minor traffic delays and to be cautious of cyclists on the road.
Tim’s Custom Cabinets has loaned race organizers its parking lot at the corner of Kitchen-Dick and Lotzgesell roads for the event. There will be no overnight parking, however, and participants are asked not to litter or use the site for tire spinning.

Port Angeles hosting hoops playoffs
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles High School will host Tri-District 1B boys and girls basketball tournament games all week.
On Tuesday, the Clallam Bay girls, 11-5 overall, will play Lopez at 5:15 p.m. in an opening round game. If the Clallam Bay girls win, they will play another playoff game Thursday with a chance to go to the state 1B basketball tournament, but a site and a time have not been settled as yet.
On Thursday, both the Neah Bay boys and girls will play in Port Angeles. The Neah Bay girls, 17-3, will play at 5:15 p.m. They will play the winner of a Tuesday game between Mount Rainier Lutheran and Tulalip Heritage. The winner goes to the state 1B basketball tournament.
The Neah Bay boys, also 17-3 and ranked No. 1 in RPI among 1B teams, will play at 7 p.m. The boys will play the winner of a Tuesday game between Pope John Paul II and Cedar Park Christian. The winner goes to the state 1B basketball tournament.
