Whatcom County is heavily represented, with four teams coming from Anacortes, three from Bellingham and two from Nooksack.

Other cities represented from off the North Olympic Peninsula include Bainbridge, Bremerton, Chehalis, Federal Way, Gig Harbor, Port Orchard, Puyallup, Sedro Woolley, Silverdale and Wenatchee.

Games get underway at 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Port Angeles High School, Stevens Middle School, Roosevelt Elementary School and the Vern Burton Community Center.

Final games are scheduled for late Sunday afternoon.

Maxwell sets mark

HANOVER, N.H. —Middlebury College senior and Port Angeles High School graduate Alison Maxwell recently broke the school’s 15-year old indoor record in the 3,000-meter run by more than five seconds at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic

Maxwell crossed the line with a winning time of 10 minutes, 10.68 seconds, nearly six seconds faster than her closest competitor.

Maxwell’s time shattered the previous time of 10:15.75 set by Michela Adrian back in 2000.

Derby bout nixed

SEQUIM — The Port Scandalous Roller Derby bout previously scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, has been canceled.

A shortage of available referees was cited as the cause of the cancellation.
