Riders of the week
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles senior soccer player Emma Moseley and sophomore volleyball player Nizhoni Wheeler have been honored as the Roughrider Student-Athletes of the Week.
Moseley helped lead her team to two wins in three matches, including sealing a win against Bremerton with a late goal off of a free kick.
She stepped up and scored in the fourth minute of the team’s senior night victory against Kingston, and also assisted on the team’s third goal.
The win clinched a postseason berth for Port Angeles for the first time in three seasons.
Moseley is a second-year captain, attends Peninsula College full-time through the Running Start program and is the yearbook editor for the high school.
Wheeler stepped up offensively in a match against the Buccaneers, with seven kills and just two errors.
“She has been becoming more energetic on the court celebrating with her team,” Riders coach Christine Halberg said.
“Nizhoni continues to work on her positive self-talk and her mental toughness. She leads her team on the net and they rely on her strength and leadership.”
