Weller grateful

QUILCENE — Megan Weller, a junior right-side hitter on the Quilcene High School volleyball team, was recently selected as the Week Five CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week.

She was honored with a school assembly and field-level passes to the Seattle Seahawks-Dallas Cowboys game and the Quilcene School District received a $1,200 grant from retailer Sports Authority.

Weller penned a letter thanking the contest’s sponsors and those responsible for nominating and supporting her.

“I would like to thank Ellen Grus for nominating me for this honor; you’re like a member of my family and I appreciate everything you do for me,” Weller said.

“I would also like to thank the Quilcene School District and staff, the Seattle Seahawks, and CenturyLink for making the assembly and all the recognition possible.

She also thanked her teachers, coaches, family and friends “that help me through school, sports, and all of my other extracurricular activities.

“I would not be able to do any of this if it wasn’t for the amazing support system I receive in school, out of school and at home,” Weller said.
