Tournament team tryouts Thursday

PORT ANGELES — Olympic Junior Babe Ruth will hold tryouts for its 13-year-old tournament baseball team at Volunteer Field at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The tryouts are open to any 13-year-old who has played baseball this season with Olympic Junior Babe Ruth.

The team will host the Babe Ruth state tournament from July 10-13.

Wrestlers compete

CENTRALIA —Three Olympic Mountain Wrestling Club grapplers medaled at the Washington State Wrestling Championships last weekend.

Wrestlers had to finish in the top eight of their divisions to medal.

Novice 65 athlete Israel Gonzalez led the area contingent, earning two medals with a third-place finish in the freestyle competition and a fifth-place finish in the Greco-Roman style.

Jason Kibe came in fourth in the Novice 105 divison and Branden Currie was eighth in the Junior 152 class.

Also wrestling at the event were Jack Harrelson in the Novice 85 division, Nate Harrelson at Cadet 113 and Caleb Joslin at Junior 152.
