MX races coming to Deer Park track

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Motorcycle Club’s first race of 2018 will feature the first-ever Rogers Invitational MX Race on Sunday.

There will be a $3,000 purse for the Men’s Pro-Class and $1,500 purse for the Women’s Class.

Amateur classes from 50cc to 450cc will also be racing for 33 percent trophies. Open paid practice will be held on Saturday.

Gates open at 7 a.m. Practice will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, while Sunday racing begins at 10 a.m.

Camping is also available at the track located at 1206 Deer Park Road in Port Angeles.

Swim club results

PORT ANGELES — Three members of the Port Angeles Swim Club attended the Northwest Region Age Group Championships on March 22-25 in Federal Way, featuring swimmers from eight states.

Amelia Hughes, 11, placed third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5 minutes, 39.90 seconds. She also broke the club record in the mile with a time of 20:10.20 and placed 16th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:13.49.

Mackenzie Dubois, 13, placed third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:19.28. Sonja Goversten, 15, placed 16the in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.41.
