McCaulley, Meek All-Stars
SHORELINE — The North Olympic Peninsula will be well-represented at the Washington State Girls Basketball Coaches Association (WSGBCA) Senior All-Star Games on Saturday at King’s High School.
Neah Bay’s Gina McCaulley will play and her father Tony McCaulley will coach the Class 1B team in a game between the 1B All-Stars and the 2B All-Stars at 2 p.m.
Port Townsend standout Kaitlyn Meek will play for the 1A team when it faces the 2A All-Stars at 4 p.m.
A game between 3A and 4A teams will follow at 6 p.m.
The players of the year and coaches of the year for each classification will be presented at halftime of each game. Ms. Basketball 2018 and the WSGBCA will be presented at halftime of the 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. games.
Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for students and seniors.
The games will be livestreamed at www.turkpride.tv.
Glasser All-State
UNIVERSITY PLACE — Sequim senior Payton Glasser has been selected to the 2018 Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (WIBCA) Class 2A All-State Boys Basketball team.
Glasser will play for the 2A boys in an all-star game against the 1A All-Stars at 4 p.m. Saturday at Curtis High School.
A Class 1B and 2B All-Star game will be played at 2 p.m., and the 3A and 4A contest will follow at 6 p.m.
Doors open at 1 p.m.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and children 12 and younger.
Ergo event
PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association held its first Ergometer Regatta, “The Sasquatch Showdown” Erg Sprints on Reb. 24 at the Landing Mall. The regatta held 10 events to accommodate more than 90 entries ranging from elementary school students to seniors competing in distances covering 500 meters to 5 kilometers.
Several local fitness studios, including Phoenix Dragon, Thunder Ridge and Storm King, had athletes competing alongside experienced rowers in the grueling 5K event. Adult masters also competed in a 2K Sprint Race, with Ellen Strong from Kitsap winning the women’s division and Scott Kennedy from OPRA winning the men’s.
OPRA junior athletes had a strong showing, with local athletes placing in all 5 youth events.
