Klahhane opens registration
PORT ANGELES — Klahhane Gymnastics will open registration for summer gymnastics classes Monday.
Three class sessions will be held twice a week for two weeks beginning July 6 for kids in Grades 1 through 8.
Pre-Kindergarten children aged 4 to 5½ will have options for once a week or twice a week classes.
The session dates are July 6-16, July 20-30 and Aug. 3-13. Classes are anticipated to fill up fast due to COVID-19 group size guidelines. Klahhane Gymnastics will be observing distancing and sanitation protocols.
Registration days are: Priority registration — Monday to Wednesday for gymnasts enrolled in June classes; advance registration — Thursday and Friday for all gymnasts enrolled during the 2019-2020 school year; and general registration — June 27 to July 3 for all new and returning gymnasts.
Registration times are 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The class schedule and rates are available at www.klahhanegymnastics.org or on the Klahhane Facebook page. Phone inquiries at 360-457-5187 are welcome, but registration is required in person. There is no phone or online registration.
Payment is due at the time of registration by cash, check or credit card. No debit cards are taken.

River Center Charity Golf Tournament set
SEQUIM — The second annual River Center Charity Golf Tournament will be held July 31 through Aug. 2 at the Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course. The tournament, a two-person scramble, is a fundraising event for the Dungeness River Audubon Center, and is sponsored by the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and 7 Cedars Resort.
The cost includes green fees, golf cart, range balls, a boxed lunch of prizes. The tournament entry fee is $80 per person. Teams play once during the tournament.

The two-person scramble tournament format is designed for players to compete equally, at any level of golf proficiency: Two people comprise a team, each person tees off and subsequent shots are hit from the position of either of the team’s “best shot” (farthest, best fairway position, closest to the hole, including putts). The score per hole is the total of the team’s best shots played.
Shrimp opens in Marine Area 4
OLYMPIA — Marine Area 4 east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh Line reopened to recreational shrimping Saturday.
The shrimp daily limit is 10 pounds, heads and tails, for all species combined, of which no more than 80 spot shrimp can be retained.
Shrimp pot gear may be set or pulled from one hour before official sunrise to one hour after official sunset each day. Up to two pieces of gear per person and up to four total per boat may be used. Pot gear has a minimum mesh size of one inch.
Each harvester must keep their catch in individual containers, in their possession or labeled with their name.
Shrimp is open daily west of the Bonilla-Tatoosh Line beginning Saturday. Daily limit 25 pounds, heads and tails, of which no more than 200 spot shrimp may be retained.

The Makah reservation, which includes the port of Neah Bay, remains closed to non-tribal members. While Marine Area 4, both east and west of the Bonilla-Tatoosh Line, is open, anglers will need to access Area 4 from Marine Areas 3 or 5, or from Sekiu or Westport.

Coast Guard: Stay safe in the open ocean
SEATTLE — The U.S. Coast Guard advises boaters planning to fish the waters of Marine Area 4 in Neah Bay extra safety considerations.
Fishing in the area reopened Saturday.
The Makah Reservation, including marinas and all services, remains closed to visitors.
The town of Neah Bay on the Makah Reservation represents the primary direct boat access to Marine Area 4, and as a result, those fishing in this area will have to launch from and land in other areas.
La Push, located on the Quileute Reservation to the south of Neah Bay, also remains closed to the public.
The Coast Guard reminds anglers to ensure they have the proper safety gear, as well as plenty of fuel, water, and food on board if they intend to fish in Marine Area 4 for long periods, since nearby marinas will not be open to assist. It is also prudent to check forecasted weather and file a float plan with someone staying back on shore.
The waters from Cape Alava on the Olympic Peninsula north to the mouth of the Sekiu River along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, will reopen to bottomfish and shellfish, including mussels, clams and oysters. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced June 12 the reopening of Marine Area 4.
